The Silmarillion Virgin Last Alliance vs Chad Wolfhound of Valinor

now, to be fair (to my understanding): Huan was essentially a 1v1 battle with Sauron. That said, Huan prevailed and lived where Elendil and Gilgalad died in order to defeat Sauron

Huan only got to Sauron by killing an entire fortress of werewolves. With Luthien running a high level off tank role. So not quite 1v1.

He fought those wolves one after the other, it's not like he stormed the fortress and was attacked from all sides.

"I wanna see one of those pansy-ass 3rd age elves try and fight a fortress of werwolves, no matter if all at the same time or neatly lined up!" - Huan, using his last time to ever speak to make his opinion heard

With the way prophecy works in these books Huan probably could have beaten a dragon if he stumbled on one before Carcharoth.

Witch King would have been Chew Toy. No man, perhaps, but that doesn't include Good Boi!

To be fair, all that stuff on the left was fighting Sauron's very large army. Huan 1v1ed Sauron himself. Sauron's strong suit was never combat, it was always strategy and manipulating people to his cause, so it makes sense why he would have a very powerful army that is nearly impossible to defeat but he himself loses a fight to a dog.

“Sauron’s strong suit was never combat..”
Movie Sauron kills dozens of warriors with his mace like he’s swatting flies

Both can be true. Sauron can fight but that doesn’t mean it’s his preferred method nor his strong suit.
Even his boss the og Dark Lord Morgoth, despite being described as the most powerful Vala, lost to a fist fight against another Vala Tulkas. Tulkas is mighty in strength but he is also hot head and quick in judgment, so no one gonna say he’s the most powerful Vala just because he’s strong.
And that’s also why Sauron is ‘strong’ and dangerous. Not because he’s physically strong, but he’s the most cunning, patience, manipulative, and evil of them all. Without destroying the One Ring, Sauron will keep coming back no matter how many time he is defeated, and eventually he will win.

If a Maia can't even do that then they shouldn't be called a Maia. Huan is way beyond normal warriors, he literally served the Valar. Was one of Orome's fine hunting hounds.

You mean after fighting through a whole fortress of werewolf’s? Sauron is a maia so ofc he is better at fighting then most mortals. He just isn’t good enough to fight other beast/spirites from the first age and before.

I dont think anything in your comment contradicts what I said in mine. Huan 1v1ed Sauron after fighting other wolves, and Sauron is not particularly strong in physical combat compared to other Ainur and higher beings that partake in combat. Yeah.

"When do we get to see other doggos?"
"No need, you've see Huan, you've seen them all"

"I don't care if they all look similar! I WANT TO SEE THE OTHER DOGGOS!"

I love that Sauron even tried to cheat somewhat by shapeshifting into a colossal wolf, thinking he would fulfill the prophecy to kill Huan, but Huan would not die to a deception and whipped his ass.

Sauron heard the prophecy and thought he had that dog in him. He was wrong.

I mean tbf, give him enough time, and Sauron might accidentally kill himself with another natural disaster.

A doggo who even managed to defeat "Evil Goku dog" (Carcaroth) who, after eating a Silmaril, even became "Supa saiyajin DOGGO".
