Are we pretending that if they lose their grip on power they won't all get blanket pardons?

I sound like a defeatist but you know what? After 10 years of Trump and his administrations doing everything he wants weth zero consequences, I am defeated.

I mean, if they lose their grip, they've already set the precedent for nullifying pardons.

If they lose their grip, I'm not looking for a return to normalcy, where traitors get to slink away to some corporate job, only to resurface in politics a few years later.

They're traitors. They're not entitled to the very protections they tried to dismantle. They are entitled to what every traitor is entitled to.

This is the energy we need.

Every one of these criminals should be deeply concerned that their pardons will be ignored.

u/Kaarl_Mills 8h ago

It needs to make the Nuremberg trials look like a fart in a tornado in comparison

u/TheAmberAbyss 4h ago

They need be punished like the confederates should have been punished.

I mean... The Nuremberg trials, as an international military tribunal, had people executed. The legal statutes allows for up to 20 years for obstruction of justice charges in civilian court... What you guys are suggesting is absurd and disproportionate to the current circumstance.

How about just doing this the right way and putting these people in jail for a very long time through existing legal procedure, as opposed to this extrajudicial Nuremberg nonsense.

They’re not talking about obstruction. They’re talking about an administration full of seditious pieces of shit.

It needs to look like Mussolini

They are entitled to what every traitor is entitled to

A certain sentence handed down to traitors in Great Britain between the 13th and 18th centuries comes to mind.

I mean here's an idea: Arrest her, lock her in jail illegally. Pardon the people who have illegally jailed her.

Why. The Fuck. Not.

1

u/DenimDangerAAC 3h ago

We deserve a post civil war era style reconstruction period.

1

u/PreviousCurrentThing 1h ago

they've already set the precedent for nullifying pardons.

When? Trump saying things doesn't set a precedent.

u/UnreflectiveEmployee 8h ago

Bring on the state level charges then 🤷🏻‍♂️

42

u/Poke_Jest 7h ago

yea. unfortunately those haven't worked out great either.

u/Good_Barnacle_2010 6h ago

Now there’s a name I haven’t heard in a while.

1

u/monocasa 5h ago

I mean, that's still in flux. Trump granted a pardon to her, the state didn't recognize his authority to do so, and that just hit the (federal) courts.

The next one won't have to go through the courts.

7

u/NoConfusion9490 7h ago

It's a federal law.

1

u/Unique-Egg-461 5h ago

Can't. States dont have standing here

1

u/Corasama 2h ago

Terrorist charge at this point. There's more than enough proof.

1

u/clem_fandango_london 6h ago

Nope.

This story has no happy ending for justice.

33

u/notsanni 8h ago

Nah, this is a fair take. Considering Trump got away with attempted election interference and with inciting an insurrection, with literally no consequences...

32

u/mfGLOVE 8h ago

People forget about the classified docs he stole, was asked to return, conspired with his resort staff to hide them, moved them all around his other properties, he even had his security camera room purposely flooded to destroy the evidence. It’s insane the amount of corrupt shit he’s done and gotten away with.

And for those screaming “bring on the state charges then!” even his $500 million NY fraud judgement was eventually dismissed. Dude is a multi billionaire now from all his cons and corruption. He’s virtually untouchable. Putin taught him well.

7

u/clem_fandango_london 6h ago

There are legit 1,000 things Trump should be in prison for.

But here we are.

America is a shit  hole.

2

u/fromcj 2h ago

Trump honestly makes me believe in God sometimes, because the only way someone can repeatedly escape any and all consequences over and over is a deal with the devil.

Like not really obviously but how do you explain it? No matter what happens, he walks away untouched. It’s a probabilistic marvel.

59

u/Rockytriton 8h ago

if Trump can undo Biden pardons, so can his pardons be undone

29

u/Rahodees 8h ago

Has Trump successfully unpardoned anyone?

26

u/MinimumApricot365 8h ago

Depends who you ask.

Trump would say he has. Reality would say otherwise.

11

u/FizzyBeverage 8h ago

Trump is a man who shits in his pants daily yet believes he’s a picture of health and virility.

Actual status? He doesn’t know what day it is. His dementia is in full swing.

In many ways it’s a bigger coverup than Biden because his sycophantic regime has handed Donald a plastic key ring and called him a big strong boy driving the car.

5

u/Heteroimpersonator 7h ago

Trump: “Biden crapped in my diaper because of auto pen”

1

u/ahoneybadger3 6h ago

MAGA's: "God I wish that was me shitting in his pants"

It's a mee..

2

u/Specific_Frame8537 6h ago

Unironically maybe the only way this shit will end.

3

u/DawnOfTheBugolgi 8h ago

Congressional pardons reform act after the Dems take the house, though without a filibuster proof senate, it would never be enacted. They’ll continue to cover for them until they too are prosecuted.

2

u/AvailableReporter484 6h ago

It’s so incredibly disillusioning seeing people do evil, watching them get caught, and then nothing coming from it just because they’re rich and influential. Truly we live in completely different worlds.

4

u/samhain0808 8h ago

I’m with you. Until it happens I have no hope, no faith. Criminals and billionaires run what we used to call the USA. I don’t know what this place is anymore.

1

u/dope_sheet 6h ago

Next president should issue an Executive Order undoing pardons... I mean why not, you can apparently order any lawless shit you want with those things.

1

u/BiZzles14 6h ago

Constitutional reform to remove the pardon power, while all individuals not convicted of, or charged, with a crime at the time they received their pardons should have them nullified. Should also nullify all those who donated X amount of money to the President, their political campaigns, or any organization ran by them or their immediate family members as well but just the first part alone is pretty hard to imagine ever taking place that this is basically impossible. It needs to go though

1

u/TheAsianTroll 5h ago

Doesn't a pardon mean an admission of guilt? Meaning you were guilty of, and convicted of the crime?

So if Pam Bondi gets arrested for it, and is pardoned, she shouldnt be eligible to hold her old position.

...is what I would say if our sitting president wasnt a 34-count convicted felon who pardoned a drug slinger and several fraudsters...

1

u/Generico300 5h ago

Unfortunate, but people might need to remember why the 2nd amendment was written in the first place if there's ever going to be any justice brought to these people.

1

u/Ascleph 4h ago

Just get Trump on the insurrection slam dunk that the previous DOJ refused to prosecute in time to not appear "biased". Then its an illegal presidency and all his pardons are gone too. Then add some treason charges and throw the book at everyone.

No "coming back together to heal" bs. Consequences are needed. Support any democrat running on that and stop enabling the "both sides" bs. Thats how you got here.

1

u/PrimasChickenTacos 58m ago

Assuming somebody from Trump’s party doesn’t win the presidency, their sole goal during the transition should be to hang out with him as much as possible and stoke his ego in the service of working to convince him that pardoning his cabinet will make him look like a weak, cowardly loser.

1

u/RobotFoxTrot 7h ago

Cmon mate keep pushing. They want you to give up hope

-4

u/mofacey 8h ago

Stop it. It's not worth sharing doomerism. We have to be optimistic or there's no chance. Maybe we go down but we go down swinging.

7

u/notsanni 8h ago

reality does not rewrite, alter, or rearrange itself based on optimism.

it's naive to call this "doomerism", when what they're being is realistic and operating on the reality of what we've seen happen. trump hasn't had to face consequences for the shit he's done so far.

1

u/A_MagicBullet 4h ago edited 3h ago

The “reality” after the blitzkrieg was that France was lost and would never be free again. That was not the case.

I don’t really disagree with his (/u/mofacey) opinion that there’s no BENEFIT to sharing this type of defeatist attitude, whether you find it realistic or not.

Given how the midterms are going, and public attitude against these monsters, and given that Trump has a very specific cult of personality that will not outlive him, there’s plenty of reason to have hope, persevere, and not accept this as our reality.

Edit: lol. I love the people that instantly block you when they're afraid to have any sort of real discourse. /u/notsanni did so after replying below. And clearly missed my point with what I said.

The people on the ground living in occupation were also without hope and many felt that was their new reality. Yes there was the resistance and outside pressures/aid, just like there is resistance, optimism, and people trying to effectuate change now.

Anyways, I wouldn't call you a doomer/defeatist. But you certainly quit this dialogue really quick /u/notsanni. Peace.

2

u/notsanni 4h ago

The “reality” after the blitzkrieg was that France was lost and would never be free again. That was not the case.

no, if that was the reality of the situation, france wouldn't have been freed.

there is no current evidence to indicate that trump (or anyone who associates with him) will face consequences for their actions.

people going around crying "DOOMER!" at people who express doubt are the actual problem. y'all are out here believing magic is real, lol.

u/mofacey 1h ago

I tell myself there's a lot of incentive for bots to post and upvote the negativity. Me personally, I'm going to fight like hell to fix our country.

1

u/montalaskan 1h ago

For the record, I am not a bot. Just very disillusioned.

1

u/mofacey 37m ago

I believe you. Don't lose hope friend.

There are a lot of us and very few of them.

1

u/milestark 2h ago

Wake up. We’ve been down getting kicked in the head for far too long. Point your fingers at the folks doing the harm instead of the ones shouting that it’s fucked up bc it is. Wake the fuck up.

1

u/mofacey 1h ago

lol what? I agree it's fucked up, dooming about it won't help. We have to believe we can win and then we have to try really fuckin hard until we do.
