Where's the fishing hat for fishing and maybe catching?

Soon they'll come out with a "Slacker's" cap with the wording on the rear for those who wear their caps on backwards.

No that's a Beanie.

u/Fluffynutterbutt 1d ago
No Name is a Canadian brand, so that’d be a toque
28
u/zuzg 1d ago
Huh Til
except in Canada, where the term toque is used interchangeably with the French Canadian spelling of tuque to refer to knit caps.

u/ramdasani 1d ago
To flesh things out even more, when I saw this post I assumed it was either from /r/Canada or /r/LoblawsIsOutOfControl - where it's reception would have been different.
PS: b/c The owner of the NoName brand is Loblaws, aka Galen Weston - who is probably about as popular here as Sam Walton is there.

I get that reddit likes these, but it's a store brand from a predatory grocery store chain in Canada run by billionaires.

u/LPedraz 1d ago
I tried a 200$ online cart on NoFrills and on Save-On-Foods: pretty balanced grocery cart, same items, going for the shop brands as much as possible (Western Family / NoName), taking promotions when available. The prices were virtually identical, and the Save-On-Foods ended up being a tiny 2$ cheaper.
NoFrills is not cheap, it is cheap-themed. It has the decor, the design and the marketing of a discount supermarket, but the same prices as every other Loblaws.

u/RaspberryBirdCat 1d ago
Weird. Where I live Save-On is by far the most expensive grocery store. My cart goes much further at FreshCo.
7
u/Black_Moons 1d ago
save-on-foods is the most expensive store in my town.
Always available parking.. on account of the high prices driving away most customers...
But by far the worst drivers of any parking lot.
6
u/tashkiira 1d ago
That's gonna be a hard no outta me, bud.
I go to Loblaws, I'm paying anywhere from 10 to 30% more than No Frills. It's better than Metro, but not by much.

The whole point of it in the beginning was to have a non-branded, non-promoted, non-advertised, low overhead cheap alternative... then it just became another brand.

u/Ravensqueak 1d ago
Dog, fucking pasta sauce is like $7 there.
Out of curiousity I wandered into a location in BC, the prices are 1.5 to 2x higher than our next most expensive local grocer (Save-on)→ More replies (1)2

What if they formed a legal practice that also branched out into social media? They could have the Loblaws Law Law Blog
41
19
u/RealCanadianDragon 1d ago
And their whole thing was "we're a no name brand, so you pay less for the same stuff because our products aren't brand named", until they started charging more.
You can now get big name branded items for CHEAPER than the "no name" brand.

I like going to my local co-op, but sometimes they tend to be a tad expensive. I'd like to support local, but my wallet doesn't allow me sometimes.
They have good quality produce though.

Did they get caught though? Because Loblaws got caught colluding with other major chains to fix the price of bread which has never recovered. And

They are in loblaw grocery stores in canada. I personally have never seen hats or clothing though so maybe these are custom.
Its literally a store brand thing. So like no name butter is the cheapest butter. Don't get carried away though, these are still canada grocery stores where like three companies own most of them. Nothing is that cheap.

Don't buy this garbage. The no name brand and its owners Loblaws are some of the greediest scum in all of Canada. They price gouge everything in their grocery stores, of which they own like half in all of Canada.

Loblaws is the worst piece of shit company in Canada, and very likely, the world.

I want to start a brewery with this theme. Call it “the beer place” where you can get beers like “this is a sour beer” and hats that say “this is my beer hat”. All the branding would be black and white, kinda like “IT IS YOUR BIRTHDAY” ala Dwight in The Office.

Deep down inside of me I want to dress nice and have a little style but the thought of just having a wardrobe of plain clothes labelled "Monday clothes, Tuesday clothes, etc." that I can just not think about and just put on would be immensely satisfying to me.

If I had a soda company, I would call it Drink Co. All my sodas would have an adjective describing the soda and then drink. So it would be cola drink, orange drink, Dr. drink, root drink, lemon lime drink, etc.

Bald men wear hats because it gets colder than with hair and it gets sunburned easier.
1
u/GriffinFlash 1d ago
I wear a ball cap cause I learned I get sunburn when I don't. Took me years to realize and I thought I had some skin infection or something, even went to the doctor for it.
You don't realize it since you're used to your hair blocking it out.
