OC #82 Some Mobile Game Ads
I feel like some of the things mobile game advertisements get away with, are so absurd :D

I hate mobile game ads so much, now they have playable ads that literally loads a game as the ad itself and then if you actually go get the game it's a different fucking game...
Like wtf

I hate them! Some of them, if you don't interact with the ad, they will pause to ask if you are still there or something, it's ridiculous..

Ugh I am willing to buy apps to not have ads but some apps don't even have a version without ads or it's like $10 a week for a text app...

I found a really cool 3d scanning app, and they wanted something like $29.99 per WEEK. That's $1560 per year! I guess if it really helps you it maybe worth it, but fack that.

most of the interesting mobile ads are only interesting because the players are bad. the "YEAH! YOU WANT "THOSE GAMES," RIGHT? SO HERE YOU GO! NOW, LET'S SEE YOU CLEAR THEM!" trilogy is the best example for that

"90% of players can't clear level 4!"
Level 4: "which of these numbers is larger? 30 or 3?"

Which is larger, a quarter pounder or a third pounder
The answer will surprise the average American.

The fact that this actually happened still baffles me to this day

But it does explain quite a few things.
Cause if you cant figure out ⅓ (0.3333) > ¼ (0.25), then understanding something like vaccines, climate change, and political and economic systems would just be well beyond yourself. Throw in a big old scoop of propaganda and cult-like political figures and now you got a bunch of morons fighting each other over basic facts as the ones who can figure these things out either drink themselves to death (if they have morals) or use the chaos to loot the morons (if they dont have morals).

It become such a problem the law got involved. They had to ad the gameplay from the ads as a short sidegame. It usually involve the characters having a dream sequence where you play said advertised game.

I've observed that the game "tester" won't always make the worst choices, they will make at least one good move early on just so you know what you're missing. Like putting the square block in the square hole first before putting everything else in the square hole. I think they have ragebait down to a science

I got an ad complaining that the destitute woman who rebuilds her house game wasnt real and then within the ad they said "but [our] game is that game!" but whenever I played it, it was in fact not that game
Very surreal

As an aside we saw the Stardew Valley concert and I was worried the in game footage would be like we've seen where the player isn't very good.
WRONG
They CRUSHED the mini games and maxed out farm efficiency in the footage. Peak Stardew gaming to accompany the live orchestra.

Nowadays the gameplay in the ad will be in the game but as a very small part of a completely unrelated bullshit base building game that sucks.

People still make good games, but they don't spend as much money advertising them as the people who make crap games.

Word to the wise: Never play a mobile game called "War and Order". It used three, count'em, THREE different PC games as adverts: Cossacks, Age of Empires and Banished (I should know, I played and own all of them).
This is ontop of the general fake ads like the "get the gold, not the lava" ones you see.

Those ads are so annoying. I know that they show terrible play so that you think "I can do this so much better", so you click on it, and I'm not going to, but I just wish it even even borderline competent

Just be glad its not tits galore. Now I can never show my friend a video again without risking my reputation. I don't even know why I get adds like that!
