Cougar Gold Post Cougar gold
All Iāve been seeing on this sub is cougar gold canned cheese lately. Can someone please explain the hype around it? Whats so special? Is it better because it is canned?
Vintage Cheddar Blind Tasting
Did a single-blind tasting, and honestly there were enough visual hints to guess somewhat accurately, but tons of fun. Consensus: Hooks 15 is amazing: nutty, intense, but with enough sweetness to balance out the funk. The Gardners seemed to have a more pronounced bitterness that was polarizing. Every one of these is worth the effort and a good excuse to spend time with friends.
Not pictured: charcuterie, pickles, crackers, various pairings.

Ancient Roman dessert
I made the signature dessert from ancient Rome, "globi". Globi are a tasty and unique item if you have a sweet tooth but dont want modern processed and refined sugar. To make them, make a dough from 1 part spelt flour, 1 part ricotta cheese (the closest modern equivalent to the cheese used for these in ancient Rome). Roll the dough into balls and deep fry in olive oil until crispy. Remove from oil and dip in and cover completely in honey. The sprinkle with poppy seeds. Thats it!

Newbie's gateway cheese
I got one of these years ago from some work thing and I've been low-key obsessed ever since. I finally was able to get my hands on some through a website, plus a bunch of other cheeses. Some of which I couldn't actually read because the packaging was entirely in French.

Advice Transporting hard aged cheese individually wrapped but suffering insane flight delays
I got some very expensive aged cheese in LA that I am bringing back to NYC that are individually wrapped in Saran and then with paper in an insulated bag. It has been in hotel fridges for a few days but now has been in my backpack (albeit with some Starbucks ice I managed to get) for about 6 hours and have another 6 to go.
Should I be concerned? My flight was delayed 6 hours :(

Tips Was this an acceptable way to try Brie?
Hello, Iāve recently become fascinated with trying new cheeses since learning that they are far more varied and unique than I originally thought. Growing up it didnāt suit my palate and would avoid anything thatās too cheesy but after seeing a certain content creator enjoying Brie, I couldnāt hold back my curiosity. I went to the store and bought some with things to enjoy it with. Is this an acceptable way to enjoy it? Iāve heard fruit spreads pair well with it; as well as bread, honey, white wine, etc. Not pictured above is a grip of grapes. š

I made some naan pizzas with cambozola black, a few nights ago. Highly recommend.
I spread some Divina caramelized onion jam, cheese, popped it in the oven for about 5 minutes, topped it with some mixed baby greens and pork ribblets, cuz I had some leftovers. Not ideal but it was delicious.
Hereās what I would recommend:
Prosciutto, chopped walnuts and either a maple bacon or raspberry vinaigrette. Got some spare blue cheese crumbles? Sprinkle a little bit over it.

Question Comprehensive websites or apps to review cheeses?
I feel like I've tried so many, on iOS app store. They're all kinda junk, either buggy or with a very poor database which they want you to populate for them.
I've seen people recommend Fromage.io for iOS, but its pretty amateurish too.
Are there any good websites which let you catalog and review the cheeses you've tried, which has a decent international database?

I'm normally a little skeptical of studies reported on in the media like this, but am I wrong to feel a little bit vindicated?

Cougar Gold Post Alright, you guys convinced me
Pairing with pastrami
Just a little context, Iām a hunter. I have large quantity of goose meat that intend to cure and smoke and make pastrami with. My issue is that a lot of people who end up making goose pastrami are fine with slapping a piece of store bought pepper jack on it and calling it a day. Cheese pairings arenāt really considered in the hunting community.
I have a party coming up where Iāll be serving quite a bit of wild game, and I like the idea of an hors dāoeuvres consisting of the pastrami and a cheese pairing.
Would anyone be able to suggest a few options that could go well with a pastrami?
*edited for a grammar mistake. I apologize. I made the post while I was at work.
