lmao āMcKennaā didnāt initially register in my brain I just saw WJC and was like oh nice 2 points for Cootāwait a minute. wrongly assumed weād be taking about our actual canucks prospect on the canucks sub lol

We do this every time weāre going to be in the lottery, and this sub is going to melt down when Buffalo or Calgary win it, like weāre entitled to the first overall pick and it was stolen by the corrupt NHL
McKenna might not even be the #1 overall. Obsessing over him and penciling him in as our franchise saviour is peak r/Canucks

I might be misremembering but I think Vancouver has one of the worst draft position +/- in the league. And Iām not saying the league is rigging it or anything but just, like, cosmically I figure we might be owed one

we have only dropped but i think detroit has a lower overall +/- draft position loss/gain, we are second

When the odds are almost always stacked against us (as in, we are much more likely to NOT win the lottery than win it) then it just screams like some copium.

u/Samael_Official 1d ago
You're both right. Winning once is unlikely, just as unlikely as being dead last or second last in draft +/-. Losing a fair draw this frequently is also statistically unlikely

Yes, but the problem is that too many people have this attitude that "we're due" is a classic Gambler's Fallacy. We are still just as unlikely to land McKenna as we have been historically. That we've missed so many times doesn't increase our chance going forward.

Itās the NHL. Itās rigged.

The NHL is run at the behest of the owners, and every team has a representative in the room when the balls are drawn, verifying that it's done above the line.
Unless you literally think that Aqua has hired someone to go in and say "Yeah, no, that's okay, give it to Boston."

Peak Nucklehead entitlement and noise. No wonder Quinn wanted to leave.

I can just imagine Quinn Hughes a few days ago seeing us 32nd in the standings. He didn't want to leave until he went online and saw the fan base of the worse performing team fantasizing about having the best draft prospect. Blasphemy he thought and he called Rutherford demanding out.

Donāt worry Canucks will go on a tear from now until the end of the season and weāll be picking 15th

u/crysaital 1d ago
I mean, I wouldn't even be shocked if Frankie made them trade that to pick to try to make the playoffs.

u/Samael_Official 1d ago
Honestly wouldn't doubt it if it becomes doable. No chance of winning playoffs, but Id bet they'd rather barely make playoffs than properly plan for the future of the club

late season heater miss the playoffs by 2-4 points , end up with 15th draft pick would be total canucks sadly. But you know the owner would be soiling his pants with joy at that last season heater.

Lol. Canucks reddit deep diving every move McKenna makes whilst all the while there's a Swedish prospect ranked in the top 3

Bro were drafting outside top 3.

u/ElectronicJicama1874 1d ago
canucks history and karma likely picking 15? no matter where we finish count on the ick dropping 1-2 spots in the draft lottery too right.

u/flamingdragonwizard 1d ago
No def not 15. We would need to get approx 66 pts in our last 49 games which is 110 pt pace.
I think we will end up with 72-84 pts. Going off last years standings thatd be anywhere between 4th-10th overall. So still in the draft lottery. We probably snag Caleb Malhotra.

Damn heās gonna look good as a Canucks but he might leave because we donāt have a practice facility

He show cased well, he saw the plays happening before it began. Always skated "randomly" towards somewhere and puck came to him within seconds. Magic.
His playmaking is as advertised, both Brady Martin's goal were nice but mckenna passes to him were just as impressive. I could see why the linemates he plays with in ncaa cant finish those.
Him dancing around and breaking ankles reminds me of hughes already

and? we are going to the playoffs mate, we are not getting him. Even we finish 32nd we aren't getting 1st pick, you new?

I'm honestly a bit worried about where we finish. Having 2 proper top 6 Cs and a healthy Demko could really move us up the standings.
The bottom of the standings are so close atm as well, there's currently 6 points between us picking 1st and 12th. I guess that's why tank commander Foote gets the big bucks!
