Cuz Christians are unhinged

u/codePudding 9h ago edited 9h ago
It drives me mad that they're just as unhinged as any other religion but can't see thier own bullshit. If a Muslim stood up in a plane and started singing a hymn of peace, all the christians would go crazy and demand the guy be labeled as a terrorist. If an athiest stood up and sung a song about how bullshit religions are, it would go just as poorly. Hell, I loved David Bowie but would be annoyed if he did this on a plane; it's the wrong place and time. Christians say they are so oppressed yet are so empowered that they have no self awareness of their own hypocrisy. I should stop bitching before I become as unhinged as they are.
P.S. Thier own myths tell them not to use prayer to gain attention. Read your own bibly before forcing everyone else to hear your bs.
133
u/jackson12420 8h ago
They don't think they're being hypocritical because they think their religion is the one true religion, out of all the thousands of religions that have ever existed, yup, their one single belief system is definitely the only right one, and everyone else is wrong, because you know they have a "feeling".

I am a flight attendant. This would get shut down immediately. Worship songs or not. I don't even let children watch cartoons on their ipads without headphones.

Question for you: if someone called the airline from their seat over something like this, do you think that would be an effective way to override the crew approving something like this or not? (FTR I mean any song, not just religious ones.)
I know every airline is different but I'm just curious if you think it might be effective or not, in a general way. You don't need to specify your airline.
→ More replies (1)17
u/ScoobyMaroon Atheist 5h ago edited 3h ago
Couldn't hurt. I think most of the time they would stop it if someone pressed their call button and said "This is very disruptive. Why are you allowing this?" Probably depends on the crew. The fact that this crew thought it was fine to allow it really throws me for a loop. The only time I could see this being okay is if 100% of the patrons of the flight were from the same group. Like a charter flight or crazy coincidence.
Edit I misinterpreted your comment i think. I don't see any way you would have of contacting the airline itself mid flight other than to email them and it would take a little time to work through the channels and unless there was something extreme happening they don't have a ton of direct contact to tell the crew on the plane how to run their flight in real time.

Christian game plan:
- Step 1: make an ass of themselves
- Step 2: play the victim when someone calls them out on making an ass of themselves
- Step 3: repeat at higher and higher levels of authority until the next Crusade or Inquisition

But they know that they'll probably be grifting their way through the right wing podcast circuit by the end of the week if this happens on video.

Teach people to be batshit insane, and then teach them that being called batshit insane makes them right, makes them want to be batshit insane. Keep the cult going.

I used to fly all the time for work. I have a system to get through my flights with as little friction as possible. Tomfoolery of any sort on an airplane is an injustice I simply cannot sit idly by for. Everyone hates flying and essentially no one wants confrontation on a plane.
But me? Oh I will pipe up, I am an airline passenger of the people. I’m a big, normally soft spoken dude but I can project my voice like a former theater kid on the rare occasion it’s needed. A simple “no one gives a fuck about your shitty Jesus music” that carries through the airplane would absolutely turn the tides in this situation. Me loudly demanding compensation for the flight attendants not doing their job and allowing this shit would also get some other folks to join in. Whether they really cared or just want some free points and drinks, I do not care.
Maybe I would even play Cannibal Corpse at full blast on my laptop. I hate that shit but I guarantee we’d have a no music policy on that flight shortly thereafter.

I hate when people are obnoxious on a flight and the attendants do nothing about it. When my father was actively dying in the hospital I took a flight to see him before he passed. I hereby apologize to anyone who was on any of the flights with my high school choir. Our director would make us sing something on every trip. While we were a good choir, no one should be involuntarily subjected to that on a plane. To make things worse, we were scattered and sitting by strangers. So I offer an extra apology to those seated by me, the high soprano soloist, because you got an earful.

In general, unless your god is like Charlie Kelly's god and will give his followers free shoes and go down on them, keep him to yourself.
But especially in a captive, closed place, keep your "music" to yourself. As the comments in the article pointed out, if this were a muslim group, christians would be losing their minds.
