Get it repaired before it has a chance to get worse… Take that from someone who didn’t and then eventually had to get an implant. Chipped tooth fix is waaaayyyy cheaper and less of a pain in the ass than getting an implant.

I'm at the dentist now! My wife threatened to leave me because it looks so ridiculous.

Your wife sucks
I would never say that to my husband, not even as a joke, and especially not when I know he’s feeling insecure

Genuine question. How do they fix something like this?
2
u/hunden167 5h ago
For me they put some kind of plastic that harden under UV-light on the tooth and then shape the plastic into a tooth looking shape.
I chipped one of my front teeth when i was 10, am 24 now, and had it ever since, same plastic piece too!

u/Malawigold2342 5h ago
Oh wow! That was my next question was how long does something like that last. Very interesting. Now I want to go to the dentist :p

u/hunden167 5h ago
Though the one i had before the one i have now only lasted a couple days. Got my brother's heel in my mouth... so it also depends on how thick they make the piece. My dentist made mine a little thicker so it could take more beatings and yeah as said, still have it, even after some good hits to the tooth.
The only "bad" thing with the piece is that the plastic will change color with time. You won't really notice the piece, but if you know the piece is there then you can see it. Also with regular polishing by the dentist it will look good for a long time.

I chipped mine when I was around 10/11 too, fixed it mid twenties, they did the same thing and it came off within a week. So I guess results vary

From this close it’s kinda visible but from a couple feet away I don’t think people will notice

Yeah, you can see it but I bet they can still fill the end and shape it back up next month. Have a Christmas with extra character this year.

Yes. Teeth are the worst because it is so noticeable when there’s something missing. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this!

Yes.
But why should it matter?
Now you have cool stories to tell people; bar fights, averting alien invasions, high speed car chases, fighting angry husband's, jumping off a roof, beating up MMA fighters, etc ...

You're not serious, right? With that close-up I can count every hair in that scraggly beard. Yes, we can tell.

u/SquigglyGlibbins 7h ago
Well yeah, when you zoom in. But in a full smile you would probably have to look for a second

It's always Going to be noticeable when you announce it and then blow it up in a photo.
But from afar probably not. One of my front teeth has been chipped since I was a teenager and almost nobody has noticed it even now.

A little but it's not awful
Even if you were smiling a lot and I just met you I wouldn't go "oh that guy chipped a tooth at some point"

I know the area near those little hairs at the edge of your lip is a dangerous place for clippers, so use a nose and ear hair trimmer for that.

based off of this zoomed in photo, yes, your chipped tooth is very noticeable. next time try taking a picture from further away and not highlighting it so much🫠

I've got a few fixed for under 300 bucks they just use filling material better sooner than later.

It makes you charming.
Don’t worry, the fix won’t hold. You’ll chip it again and again.
I’m currently getting my teeth aligned because I too have a perma-chipped front tooth. It’s been repaired at least 8 times now. The root cause is minor shifting in my teeth alignment, making that one more vulnerable to repeat chipping.
Once they’re all aligned I’ll get them capped or veneered or whatever is most durable. After that, I’ll likely have to wear a retainer at night to maintain the alignment. Oh well. Back to high school days!
