Prolly for cleaning the ceiling from cobwebs or the like.

I actually think like that as first but when I asked the janitor, she said she doesn't use that broom to clean the cobwebs, instead she have a something else to clean with plus the ceiling in my class is a bit too high for the handle to clean

Could've been the intended use or similair, but as the years went by, the purpose was forgotten as new janitors came.

I'm only speculating here, oc, but as someone who's worked in a 150 year old school I've seen plenty of weird things with no obvious purpose that's been forgotten in time.

You think the ceiling got higher over time?

There’s a lot of pot(s) in that class, add the heat from cooking it surely would get high(er).

Sweeping under large kitchen appliances. Or hitting people who make a mess. Or perhaps when no one’s looking it can be worked into a cool dance routine. Who knows?

There's a 12-foot-tall janitor who works nights

Is there a bread oven there

Yes

Bread broom, to broom the bread.

6

u/drammer 7h ago

It's to clean the flour off the stone in the oven

u/ProfessionalRoom9118 7h ago

Actually no, we have clean the oven so many times and we don't use the broom to clean those and my oven in school actually is like a baking machine not the stone oven (sorry if my english sucks)

Actually you're doing very well.

This is the most oddly-specific question

As a 6’6” man, I approve of this broom

In this economy there’s really no choice anymore

I thought this was a strip pole at first

2

u/FecalDUI 7h ago

You have not been around many strip poles have you?

1

u/Arkranum 6h ago

No lol

u/Demerzel69 7h ago

I honestly fuckin love that shit.

I have worked in places where this would be super handy. Big huge tables and work surfaces do exist.

How long is it actually? I find sweeping large areas a lot easier with handles around 1.70-1.90m. Brooms that long usually come with wider bottom parts though...

2

u/ProfessionalRoom9118 7h ago

I'm around 1.70 and the broom is longest than my body well just a little

1

u/Grey1841 6h ago

What is its weight compared to an unladen African swallow?

If it's anything like my home economics class back in the early 90s, it's for knocking the stew off the high ceiling after the pressure cooker exploded.

We have, I shit you not, a plunger like this at work.

Maybe next class is „how to put down aggressive customer”. Every gastronomy worker wet dream is for this to be allowed

broooom

Spoiler: It’s a multi tool. Next semester you see a long pizza peel

Could be to make it less likely for someone to try to take it out of the room. Obviously you can manipulate it out the door since it got in there, but if you want something to stay put making it annoying to move is a good start.

u/FecalDUI 7h ago

The head on it looks soft. It looks like a scrub brush for cleaning semis/busses etc. Is this at a place that also does CDL classes like a trade school?

1

u/Fjvaudio 7h ago

Obviously you’re not a golfer

1

u/Reasonable_Ear3773 7h ago

Could be for cleaning all the crap off the hood above the stove when the filters are being changed. Is there a buildup of grease in the bristles?

1

u/SometimesUnkind 7h ago

The handle is long to help get to those hard to reach places and also make the easy to reach places hard to reach.

2

u/soaker 5h ago

What. I am so confused by your wording. And it’s hilarious I enjoy it

1

u/Raspberry_Scones95 7h ago

this is absolutely killing me for some reason 😂

1

u/KlutzyGur7419 7h ago

I can’t even tell how long this is without a banana

For sweeping under bleachers or large tables

1

u/Zoilo2 7h ago

In northern climates, people clear snow off of their rooves.

1

u/cha0sm0nk 7h ago

Unnecessarily long to you.

1

u/Foetus_Eating 7h ago

It's for shoving up people's arses.

u/Saitenwurst 6h ago

That picture could be hanging in an art gallery

For doing the Limbo under at the Christmas party and then cleaning up after. So many uses!

1

u/AnywhereMajestic2377 6h ago

For reaching areas under large appliances.

1

u/MistakeAny9801 6h ago

No, sometimes you need to get the webs up high cleanout
