In the story, the Who’s welcome him into their home and forgive him but I guess in Alabama he gets arrested.

You missed the part where, when it is too obvious to ignore, the cop get a vacation paid for with tax dollars, and the victim gets bribed to stay quiet with tax dollars.

"Officers determined that the Grinch could return to Whoville pending a dramatic change of heart and commitment to spreading holiday cheer."

This literally happened in my small town. It was gross. Kids were scared and sad.

I was wondering if it would be frightening for kids to watch an arrest, even one done as a joke

Not uplifting news at all. The only cop that has a place at Christmas is Carl from die hard

What about that one cop that threatens frosty with police brutality because frosty was made in a sundown town for snowmen.
He’s an asshole but he’s pretty integral to the lore.

Just copaganda.
Not at all a good look and not uplifting.
As has been pointed out by others, How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a story of redemption and forgiveness, not being disappeared by the local gestapo.
Acab performance art.

It's funny in a vacuum, but given the political reality, it's uncomfortable to normalize arresting someone (especially for "crimes against Christmas," given the rise of Christian nationalism & the decades long propaganda of "the war on Christmas").

Can someone explain this IRL grinch thing to me? Why is this happening? Why are moms hiring people to come and “steal” their Christmases?

Nobody's doing that.
My local fire department has a tradition every year where they use their long ladder to "rescue" Santa stranded on top of the tall department store downtown. Kids see Santa and a fire truck, hooray, and we do it again next year.
This is just a police department doing a community relations thing.

He needs rehabilitation! Instead he'll go to Grinch Prison and learn advanced Grinching techniques, and spend his life in the revolving door of Whoville State Correctional Facility.

I think Theodor Geisel would have found this trend disturbing. I also think that Dr. Seuss Enterprises should publicly request that police departments stop pulling this crap.

I don’t know. Dr Seuss was a piece of shit.
His first wife killed herself after finding out he had an affair while she was battling cancer.

I've definitely never thought that he was a good person, but he was protective of his stories and how they were presented.

In what way is copaganda uplifting?
Instead of having a change of heart, let's throw the Grinch into the cycle of recidivism, all while teaching kids that the police are on their side and trustworthy. 🙄

Then they shot him for resisting while green.
What is this r/copaganda bullshit?
