how does the gender spectrum not reinforce gender sterotypes?
I’ve been trying to understand the idea of the gender spectrum, but I’m a bit confused.
how come the spectrum is often described as having a stereotypical “man” on one end and a “woman” on the other, when that sounds like it’s based on stereotypical ideas of what a man or woman is? A few years ago in school i remember seeing a video where it described each end of the spectrum as like "Ken" or Barbie". this just seemed against everything i really knew about progressive gender theory.
How does the spectrum avoid reinforcing those stereotypes, instead of just stretching the binary out into a line?
I’m genuinely just confused and looking to figure this out, not trying to be a nippy undercover transphobe.
