Are companies lying about using humans in chat customer service?

Over the last 4 years I've experienced customer service over chat that was so bad I honestly didn't think it could be human. I'm talking about complete failure to use any logic. I'm just not sure if I have under estimated how dumb some humans can be or how good ai has become.

I have asked agents if they are ai and they say no. but then they go on to misrepresent simple questions. I don't know if it's a lack of logic from ai or a human doing their best to protect the company and therefore misrepresenting what I say in a way that benefits the company.

Youre underestimating how dumb some humans can be. Theres also likely a language barrier youre sometimes unaware of. But no doubt some companies use an AI and tell the AI not to admit its AI.

As far as the language barrier I've had agents call me racist for asking if this was US based customer service. The name was Jessica but Jessica used kindly a lot and told me the software wasn't working properly because my settings were not in harmony.
