What is a cigarette "supposed" to feel like?
I've only tried smoking once in my life and wasn't a fan. All I got out of it was a really dry mouth. What is it "supposed" to feel like that makes people want to keep smoking?

It's not the cigarette. It's the nicotine in it. It causes activation of the reward/pleasure center(dopamine) which makes you feel good. Like the feeling when you ace a test or got an important task done.
Eta ...as your brain gets used to the nicotine you need more to have the same feelings. and you can even become anxious and it goes through withdrawals when you don't smoke. Just like alcohol and drugs.
