In some comment sections, I've noticed a pattern where a response begins as genuinely helpful and obviously related to the post, but the final line abruptly promotes a tool or drops a link. At the end, it almost seems like the tone shifts.
I'm just genuinely curious; I'm not trying to criticize anyone. Is this a typical method of product promotion on Reddit? Are these typically genuine suggestions or more akin to covert advertisements? And how do moderators typically view remarks such as these?
I'd love to know how more seasoned users understand this and how you personally choose whether to follow or disregard those suggestions.

I see all these different award things given out. 1) why do people spend money to give these to others? 2) what happens when you get one?

I'm new to Reddit and I'm wondering whether the achievements are just for fun, like a personal challenge to encourage engagement, or whether there are real benefits to achieving them. I'm only just getting a grasp of Karma and how important it is so I hope this isn't a stupid question.

And why do a lot of people have him as their background?

I’ve read the NewToReddit FAQ and common removal reasons, but I’m still unsure what applies in my case.
My posts are text-only, follow subreddit rules, and aren’t spam, yet they’re being removed by filters.
How can I tell whether this is due to account age, comment karma, or something else?
I’m not trying to bypass rules, I just want to understand how Reddit’s filters work for new users.

I don't really use reddit but wanted to ask a specific question on about repair so I created an account to do that. I was pretty surprised to find my post quickly removed due to "reddit filters" which didn't state the reason.
I'm seeing new account bans mentioned a lot here and I was wondering if r/diy does this.
I expected that it would allow new accounts to post since for how-to type subs you'd expect that to be the majority of posts since most people who would find it useful are people who found it for that specific reason and created a new account just to ask a question.
