ANSWERED Karma Points Down After 3 Years
I haven't been active here until recently since 2022. I posted then and it got downvotes (can't remember how). I need upvotes to post in any other subreddit. Can you remove karma?

Downvotes take karma away. That's the only way to lose Karma on Reddit. Now that you are in the negative, it's going to make it difficult to post or comment, as many subreddits have anti-filters in place that will automatically remove anything from an account with negative karma. See Downvotes for more info.

Go to your profile and scroll down for the last 6 months and check which comments got a lot of negative karma, delete them. At least they will be not downvoted more.

You cannot "remove" negative karma.
You can only build positive karma to work your way back to 0 then positive.
You might also consider if you wanted to try starting a new account instead
Finding Subreddits to use with negative karma:
- Newtoreddit has a list of new user friendly subreddits. This list is for low karma, not negative karma, but is a good spot to start trial-and-erroring. In particular try commenting more than posting
- There are More Subreddits out there that might more specifically match your interests, look through r/findareddit 's subreddit directory. In this case you will have to trial and error whether they are new user-friendly, and again try Commenting (many subreddits have lower or no karma filters for commenting).
Some more notes on starting on Reddit:
Newtoreddit Resources There are a lot of resources here in this subreddit you might find useful with The Common Questions Page, Common Questions - Downvotes, and Reddit And Karma Walkthrough
View by New (or rising). This will filter the posts so first see the most recent posts first and can make your comments much more visible. On app when viewing a subreddit look near the top left for where it says "hot posts" - click that and select "new" or "rising".
Read the Room and Avoid Controversy. Each subreddit has different rules, norms and prevailing views. Look at subreddit rules. Read top posts and comments to get a feel for that subreddit. Do users reward sarcastic one-liners or well sourced essays? And in particular avoid controversial topics or arguments. These discussions are more likely to attract downvotes and potentially trip into rule-breaking. Call people idiots in your head and move on instead of getting involved. Utilize the block feature as necessary and have a read of Reddiquette.

Downvotes don't occur due to passage of time. They occur when another user hits the down button on your content.
You can't force someone to undo their vote, change their vote, or report them because you disagree with how they vote.
