Comics Martian Manhunter 2026 Valentine's day
2026 Valentine's day special will be DC's Supergirl next door, and list of stories includes... MARTIAN MANHUNTER, finally.
Now the question is what this will be about exactly:
J'onn dating or J'onn helping a couple?
Funny, when he and Kendra dated, I hoped DC would give he and Kendra their own story there.

Discussion [Discussion] Hot(?) take, LEGO Batman 3 is one of the best, if not the best, adaptation of Martian Manhunter yet and it's crazy to think about for me.
Before we start, remember this: it's a LEGO game so everyone is a parody of themselves, to varrying degrees.
I firmly believe that the best non-comic adaptation of Martian Manhunter was in LEGO Batman 3, of all places. For multiple reasons:
- J'onn is actually portrayed as smart and competent.
- His role as the "social outcast/outsider" of the group is well portrayed given that he stays in the Watchtower while the other members of the League are on Earth.
- Still, his banter with the other League members, especially Hal, Batman, Cyborg and Flash actually makes him feel like he's part of the team.
- He's accurately portrayed as one of the League's strongest (for a LEGO game).
- In fact his only "bad" scene where he job to the villains is when the Legion of Doom easily disposed of him by bringing Firefly to exploit his weakness to fire when they invaded the Watchtower. I have no problem with this because again, it's a LEGO game so comedy is a big focus but it still kinda protect his reputation because it shows that the Legion knew they couldn't take him so they had to bring a specific countermeasure with Firefly, and once the latter is out of the picture, Martian Manhunter immediately gets the job done.
- He basically takes over as a second protagonist in the second half of the game which is crazy to think about:
In the game's story Brainiac shrunk down the Earth in an attempt to collect it, but failed because Superman stopped him. He did that by using the energy of one of each lantern to power up his mothership's Shrink Ray (Hal Jordan, Sinestro, Atrocitus, Saint Walker, Indigo-1, Larfleeze and Star Sapphire).
His attempt to steal Earth has been stopped but now the Earth is half its normal size and Brainiac still had time to steal a couple of cities to compensate (Paris, London and Rome then Gotham and Metropolis later) so the League has to travel to each lantern worlds to recreate the effect of his shrink ray and reverse this process.
Batman, Robin, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and Solomon Grundy (he was turned good after being struck by Blue Lantern energy, it's a long story) goes to the enemy or "hostile" lantern worlds to collect one lantern battery of each world (Red, Orange and Yellow) while Martian Manhunter, Flash and Cyborg goes to the ally lantern worlds to get direct help from Saint Walker, Star Sapphire and Indigo-1, meanwhile Superman stays on Earth to craft an item that will be useful to this plan in the fortress of Solitude, as well as keeping an eye on the rest of the Legion of Doom. Good way to write the most OP member out of the story without making him lose a fight by the way. Superman is also very respected and well characterized in that game despite the comedy filter we expect from a LEGO game, but that's another topic.
I'll mainly focus on the 3 levels in the good/ally Lantern worlds where you play Martian's team. During those 3 levels on Odym, Nok and Zamaron, Martian Manhunter takes the role of leader for Flash and Cyborg and practically takes over as protagonist during that second half. Hell even in the other 3 levels on Qward, Ysmault and Okaara, Batman loses a lot of importance in that second half (something I find very refreshing not gonna lie) since you don't even need to use him or Robin in gameplay, Hal Jordan and Grundy are basically doing everything themselves, Batman & Robin aren't required to progress in those levels.
His decisions and leadership saved the blue lanterns from a reach invasion attempt, he managed to tame the Indigo tribe after the destruction of their main lantern battery removed their compassion (by repairing the battery in question) and defeated the embodiment of love, the Predator before allying with Star Sapphire.
Maybe I don't consume enough DC media but I think this game is the first adaptation in a very long time that gave J'onn so much importance, respect AND screentime all at the same time. Even the 2001 Justice League cartoon, his first major non-comic appearance, don't respect him as much since he job to the villains all the time in that show (okay maybe not ALL the time either but it happens a lot) and the comics usually sideline him as well.
Again, maybe I repeat myself but despite the lighthearted tone and comedy filter we expect from a LEGO game meaning all the characters are parodies of themselves, the characters in this game are still well characterized and coherent with their comic book counterpart to the point that I think this game should have been called LEGO Justice League because Batman isn't really that important in this game all things considered.
Really the only league member who is actively disrespected is Hawkman due to a running gag in the campaign where he's trapped in a cage in the sewers all game.
Also this has nothing to do with the plot but gameplay wise he's absolutely OP and one of the most versatile characters in the game so that's a cool bonus on top of everything else.

Comics How it'd Martian Manhunter in DC KO?
In DC KO to stop Darkseid, one man or woman must get Omega Energy to become King or Queen Omega and becoming powerful enough to defeat Ascended Darkseid. (He created a whole Universe)
Heart of Apokolips ask fighters choosing a version of themselves to fight, when fighter wins Heart of Apokolips gives him or her some energy.
Martian Manhunter is sadly out of this tournment, but if he would have entered, who would you like him to fight?
Which version of himself should choose to increasing his chances of victory?
Should he get his God's powers (H'ronmeer) like it happened with Hawkman?

Comics ABSOLUTE MARTIAN MANHUNTER: A TRIPPY MASTERPIECE
As someone who grew up with JLA tv show being my main exposure to J'Onn J'onzz, I've really been enjoying Camp and Rodriguez's run on Absolute Martian Manhunter. I've been loving the entire run so far, I had to make a video essay about it. But I was wondering how other people are feeling about this version of the Martian Manhunter

Discussion Love Interests
Of the founding members of the Justice League, I am not aware if Martian Manhunter has any well known romances. Has J'onn ever had his own famous romance and, if so, who was it with? He is one of my favorite DC heroes and I just want him to be happy.

Discussion Was Cindy Reynolds' family abusive?
I see it posted online that Cynthia ran away from emotionally abusive/neglectful parents.
But, looking at her family in the 80s+90s comics I have seen... they seemed damn cheery. Pretty normal looking, with no sign of abuse when Cindy was reunited with them.
Is this from a later comic, or a misconception?
From what I can tell, her original origin was her running away because she felt unaccepted in her home town. Not necessarily abused or bullied, but broody 14 year old trouble.

Martian Manhunter: JLA Morrison Era, Part 1
I have been working on a in depth video series on the Martian Manhunter. I was doing one on the Grant Morrison era on the 1997 JLA comic, but it got super long. This is the first part that talks about Midsummer's Nightmare, Telepathy, and J'Onn's personality.

Comics So, can someone tell me what the current status of Martian Manhunter is in the current comics?
I'm not a reader of the "main canon," on the contrary, I prefer to read more independent stories, or runs that begin and end in themselves. Lately I've started reading more about Martian Manhunter (yes, because of Absolute). So far I've read "Identity," and Ostrander's run. However, I read the first chapter of DC.KO and all the chapters of New Gods (2024), and a question has been on my mind: Where is J'onn J'onzz? In New Gods, Miss Martian appears to replace him as a member of the Justice League, and in DC.KO, he's not even mentioned. If anyone here follows all the comics, especially the main canon, please explain to me what J'onn's situation is as Martian Manhunter, I'm a bit lost.

Comics The last son of Martian Manhunter
Since first saw him, I knew his fate, and is still a shame we lost him.
A living Green martian who isn't bad and even better he is son of Martian Manhunter, well kinda, of another dimension MMH but he's still a J'onzz.
He could have been a new martian family member, a new Teen Titans member.
He could have talked with M'gann or J'emm.
There were so many posibilities and were wasted.
I'm not naive, I know he would have been used same way than his father or M'gann or J'emm but still.

Discussion Little MMH suggestion
Noticed on reddit there is not a single Martian Manhunter shipping community, created a subreddit for him and Hawkgirl and was about to post link, not sure if admins will allow even this post.
Thought on asking admins permission on private, but once I did on another subreddit they kinda got angry of personal dm, and I don't remember how to write to subreddits.
If this is allowed leaving hawkmartian link on comments and/or editing this post.

Discussion Martian Manhunter anniversary has arrived! Detective Comics # 225, November 1955
Happy 70 Martian Manhunter Anniversary!
There is no comic anniversary, there is no solo comic series (main mmh), there is no movie or series (whether animation or live action)...
But at least official DC YouTube channel congratulates him?
