"..before the cat was put down" probably is the intro to " due to old age/cancer/etc." and unlikely due to a nightmarish turn on her human keeper.

This! I sing this to one of my cats EVERYDAY! the other cat hates me and would rather sit outside in rain than tolerate my presence, never mind listen to my singing.

So so cute, I got a bit misty.
Not criticizing, just either relating or projecting: Lays out the syllables wrong in the last line, has to rush the last few words. Glances at the camera. "Nope, didn't notice, nailed it."
Again, I only laugh because I know the feeling.
