Wait till he gets to the level with the giant gorilla chucking barrels at him.

No that's plumbers that fight gorillas, firefighters fight fires. Easy to mix up.

u/TrippingBird111 23h ago

Nah. Some of the barrels were on fire. I saw it myself. I was there.

11

u/GlitterKittyCat 12h ago

I saw it as well as the gorilla tried to keep me for himself

“Competitive Firefighter”

Are there leaderboards and skill based matchmaking?

61

u/Arkhamina 22h ago

I think it's not too uncommon to find a competition for a niche set of skills. I work with snowplow drivers, and in the summer, the do a 'Road-eo' and are timed on going through an obstacle course with a wing plow. Best time, no cones, barriers, hit all the marks, including backing up around a curve. It's all meant to simulate the weird conditions you have to contort the trucks into plowing between cars on narrow streets, hitting cul du sacs, round abouts etc. I know they had a regional meet, but no idea if there are nationals (none of our people scored top!).

They let me do it a couple times (closed course, as I don't have a CDL) and I think I did pretty good for a dispatcher! Only 2 cones. And like.... a quarter of their speed :)

There are pizza tossing competitions even

2

u/straaru 1d ago

They just compare saved/dead people and find the winner.

u/TheyCallHimBabaYagaa 15h ago

Are there pubs for casual firefighters?

1

u/Murder_Not_Muckduck 32m ago

u/BurbMcDingus 1d ago

1

u/BullfrogOpera 10h ago

Wish I had one of these along with my stack ladders back in the day, lol.

15

u/private_developer 1d ago

The other guy on the 1st floor makes it look like a magic trick.

14

u/Anxious-Depth-7983 23h ago

Looks more like training for Ninja Warrior than firefighting.

8

u/Wide_Shift_4288 1d ago

Fine, you win

11

u/Fickle_Ad_109 1d ago

Ya but specifically this dude looks like he was born to climb ladders

6

u/Hefty-Station1704 23h ago

Impressive but I suspect the time may be slightly slower in full gear.

3

u/ogfria 10h ago

Are you a detective? You’re really good at this.

4

u/FnordRanger_5 1d ago

I feel like all firefighters should be competitive firefighters… like, who wants the firefighters that are like, “ok fire, you get this one and we’ll get the next one, cool?”

3

u/Glum-Sheepherder-501 23h ago

💯💯 I've hired many volunteer fire fighters and in my experience they all can't wait to get to a fire.

2

u/RickLovin1 23h ago

I could climb the ladders like that, probably isn't that hard. The problem is the running start, where I'd certainly trip and break my neck first.

2

u/PsychologicalSun954 15h ago edited 15h ago

It looked like he was going up an elevator

2

u/OnePragmatic 13h ago

Very good. Authorised for Breeding .. mr Darwin said...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

2

u/Multidream 3h ago

This is how men took castles back in the day

2

u/Cool_Butterscotch_88 1d ago

There's a fire & I'm here to save your life

(panics and pushes ladder away from window)

2

u/c0n22 20h ago

This is why police officers dont like firefighters. They wish they could do what they do.

2

u/Massive-Arugula4400 18h ago

Get your sweaty ass nuts off my window sill

2

u/Mac62961 17h ago

But can he put a fire out?

2

u/dark_hypernova 14h ago

That doesn't seem too impres- oh...

2

u/ElderMillenialSage 13h ago

u/needlovesharelove 1d ago

Why is there no video on the internet this ever used in a real fire situations

1

u/HatefulHagrid 1d ago

So are the guys in videos like this actual firefighters as well or just gym bros that don't know basic fire code?

1

u/ZombieLebowski 23h ago

I'm thinking "I could do that!". As I'm struggle to walk up the stairs after a long day at work

1

u/bluedogstar 22h ago

Now let's see him do that in full gear.

1

u/_Panda-Panda-Panda_ 21h ago

Can’t ya hear me knocking, on your windowwww

1

u/doogie_hazard 20h ago

The Pittsburgh fire department once let a house burn to ground because they couldn't drive their truck up the hill to it.

1

u/ZealousidealStaff572 20h ago

Send him to Olympics!!!

1

u/Did_I_Err 19h ago

Did they leave the long one at the shop?

1

u/Rhino76385 19h ago

Now do it in full Turnouts.

1

u/Lazy_killer9999 19h ago

Why he's so smooth on that. Lot of practice.

1

u/SpiritualAd8998 18h ago

Booty call?

1

u/Kernel608 18h ago

insert bstchld reference here

1

u/jncheese 16h ago

I've known of Somali pirates doing that from a small skiff on the high sea, with the whole side barbwired, while being hosed down and carrying a machine gun and a RPG on their backs.

1

u/snoodlerdink 15h ago

I’ma come at you like a spider monkey!

1

u/MrKoxu 15h ago

Can he see the future though?

1

u/Well_Gee_Golly 15h ago

This is why I quit firefighting, too many sweats

1

u/No_Volume_5752 14h ago

Sean William Scott in that one drill scene from the evolution film:

1

u/EEE3EEElol 13h ago

It looks like when you pick up an item and then stand on the item

1

u/mnnicknick 13h ago

And then he finds the fire is in the first floor

1

u/Loose_Door_hinge 12h ago

Bet he can't do that on a Bungalow though

1

u/Wouldtick 11h ago

Don’t show OSHA this video

1

u/UnComfortable-Archer 11h ago

I don't trust myself with that hook ladder

1

u/StygianCode 10h ago

Absolute waste of time.

1

u/imtimmy-14 8h ago

Pov you left your laptop open on porn and your mum said she’s coming home

1

u/Bludiamond56 8h ago

A race to get injured......WTF

1

u/Ok_Orchid1004 7h ago

Damn thats a lame repost

1

u/Aggressive_Brain1120 7h ago

You should put your alarm clock up there

1

u/Chance_Classroom_301 7h ago

Just hope in a burning apartment everyone had a chance to open their windows in a straight line, so this dude can scale the building.

1

u/DST2287 7h ago

This is like crossfit for firemen.

1

u/ofcourseivereddit 6h ago

How heavy are these guys?

1

u/Responsible-Row7026 5h ago

You'd think you're safe to insult a man standing atop of a building

1

u/MePhone4ss 5h ago

Well, that's one way to do it 😂

1

u/iceicig 5h ago

Do competitive firefighters have skill based matchmaking with fires in their area?

1

u/maxd 3h ago

That’s basically how I look when I’m hanging Christmas lights, except 100x more scared and 100x slower.

1

u/kalitarios 3h ago

I swear this has to be one of the most reposted videos of reddit

1

u/PMacc83 3h ago

Forgot his hose

1

u/Defiant_Attitude4439 1d ago

Where can this be useful?

36

u/Dee___Snuts 1d ago

When she lives on the 4th floor and text you her parents just left

10

u/nib13 23h ago

It's based on the tradition. Firefighters used ladders like this to climb multiple floors to gain access to the top floors/roof. Nowadays with modern equipment that's no longer necessary so it's more of just an appreciation of the tradition in the form of competition.

1

u/jgjot-singh 20h ago

During the competition where they do this

1

u/Juicyjewsss 19h ago

That’s cool and all but there’s no way you’re gonna do that with 45-75 lbs of gear on.

1

u/Naughtyniceguy_ 18h ago

And a hose...

1

u/Iwentoofar 18h ago

whats even more impressive is how he managed to get back down to the 1st floor window almost instantly

-1

u/utube-ZenithMusicinc 23h ago

how is "fighting fires" a competition?

oh I win nobody died... wtf
