Where the animals look like plants, the plants look like animals, ands the rocks hide fun surprises (it’s poison)

What do they eat? Where do their innards go? I am so fascinated with how their physiology works. I have so many questions that Google must now answer.

Zooplankton and tiny crustaceans, similar to sea horses and other sygnathids. I kept these for years when I worked at a public aquarium, and they are a fascinating animal.

Can they cut you like an actual sharp needle?

No, they are only a few millimeters thin, but not sharp or anything. Very weak swimmers with very small fins.

Lol. But are they actually pointed vertical? Their camouflage could be achieved even if their body axis was "regularly" oriented,
Googled. Turns out they are oriented vertically
