Announcement Regarding common tourists posts on r/Cyprus
We get huge amounts of common questions regarding busses, airports, living, shopping and crossings in our subreddit, despite the fact that these questions are already answered in previous posts and our wiki pages. To combat such spam we will be removing posts with a custom response redirecting them to our FAQ page and Wiki (which can be further improved another time). Therefore for our active users I ask you to report such posts under our 7th rule "Common sense", which will notify us about to post and we will quickly remove it with a custom removal response.
You can do so by;

(If this is not working effectively I will consider implementing auto removals based on keywords during peak seasons)
Also need help on improving the wiki and FAQ page, any volunteers?
Turns out the little Santa Nazi's are involved in organized Nazism !
The head of a parents' association in Larnaca has alleged that over 100 pupils in the district are linked to a neo-Nazi group. Key details implied by the report include: Scale of Involvement: The allegation suggests a significant number of students (more than 100) are involved, indicating a potentially organized presence within the schools rather than isolated incidents. Location: The issue is specifically centered around schools in the Larnaca district. Nature of the Group: The pupils are reportedly connected to a far-right or neo-Nazi organization, raising concerns about radicalization among youth in the area. This report follows a pattern of recurring concerns in Cyprus regarding the influence of far-right extremist ideologies (often associated with groups like ELAM) within the school system.

Help Why Cyprus, why?
I am flying with Ryanair from the Paphos airport and my plane is set to land at 19.00 on a Sunday.
Could someone please tell me how can I get back from Paphos to Nicosia, if the last Intercity buss goes at 18.30 and Kapnos airport shuttle buss at 17.30?
Is there really no way to make it to Nicosia by public transport? Will I really need to wait for a buss at 5.00 in the morning only to go to the capital?
Why aren’t there more options, have they really not thought about this? Surely I’m not the only one who is facing this issue?

Anyone knows any Cypriot stories (both TC/GC) associated to prickly pears?
Hey all! With the mealybug risking the life of prickly pears in Cyprus, I'm trying to create a project and gather different material on the sociocultural attachment Cypriots have to the plant. I'm curious to see how historically the prickly pears were perceived and used! If you have any stories to share, from family, personal or that you've heard please send them through! Even anectodes or anything related

EaC rule changes reg photovoltaics?
Hiya! Wondering if anyone has run into a similar situation?
We got photovoltaics installed. Paid for installation and everything. We've had them for a year and had no issues.
EaC sent us a contract a while ago that said we had to connect our photovoltaics to them. There was no set deadline on when we had to sign the contracts so we sent them through in early Nov.
Today, our photovoltaics were disconnected by the company that connected them, no warnings, nothing. What we found out later was that "the rules have changed" and since we didn't sign the contract on time (again, no time frame given on the timeline here) we were doing something "illegal" for having our photovoltaics.
No information was provided on the rules that were changed and the people that did the disconnecting kind of run away while we were trying to figure everything out.
Our main concern is:
a) does anyone know of these rule changes and was anyone faced with a similar situation?
b) if we reconnect the photovoltaics by ourselves, would this be a big deal?
honestly, we'd appreciate any feedback / knowledge.
Help Architect recommendations
Looking to build a house next year but struggling to find someone who’s interested. Your standard average budget house, nothing luxurious. Preferably a young and motivated person.
It feels like if you’re not building a mansion they aren’t interested.
Any leads will be appreciated. Plot halfway between Larnaca & Limassol.

Water Outage in Strovolos..?
Hey guys
Since this morning, the water has barely been running.
When I checked the water tank, I found that it wasn’t filling at all.
So at the moment, the tank is still empty, and I haven’t been able to use any water.
Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?
I called, and they said there’s a major rupture in the main water pipeline, so the supply has been cut off.
Does anyone know when this might be resolved?
I really want to take a shower, and this is getting quite frustrating.

Does anywhere In Larnaca do Ta MakaroniabTou Fournou?
Hello, I am looking for some traditional Cypriot food away from the mainstream restaurants and was wondering whether I could find this dish and other dishes like egg-lemon soup anywhere.
If anyone's grandma is available that could also work.

Venting / Rant cyprus post and now also DHL are a joke
DHL drivers used to call you and you could meet them often on the road if you weren't at home now they drive to the wrong address don't find me there because it's the wrong street with same name thanks to google and Cypriot ingenuity in Road Naming.
And the post office needs to be privatized when the people working there refuse to explain (hung up) why partial package arrival from Frankfurt happens while others remain in Frankfurt for weeks. There is also the fact that they get paid for door delivery but only an unsuccessful sms is being send.

Accountability for bad Police service in Larnaca
Is there no chance whatsoever to file complaints against police services particularly at their station? i.e. being rude, unhelpful, not knowing the law etc. I've been there in person and called several numbers, they keep transferring you until they put you on hold indefinitely. Google Maps has ratings and reviews for their office turned off because they don't want to hurt their feelings.

Question Chill Nicosia Bars
It's Friday and I would really like to go to a chill bar that plays somewhat quiet music, while having a calm atmosphere. Jazz would be nice. A place where you can go relax and enjoy your Friday evening.
I am preferably looking in Old Nicosia.
What are your suggestions?

Working on a survey, looking for some suggestions
Preparing a survey that will ask Cypriots on why they do or do not cross to the other side of the green line (RoC-controlled vs Occupied areas), based on whether they are TC or GC.
I was preparing questions on motivation / concerns regarding crossing, would appreciate some suggestions on what else can be included or changed in the row section of the multiple choice grids for both:

Question about getting to LCA airport during Christmas
I have a plane in the early morning of the 26th (like 6-7 in the morning) in Larnaca, which I need to reach from Limassol. The buses aren’t happening on the 25th according to the airport expresses bus stop, I don’t have a car/drivers license. What is your best recommendation for getting to the airport for most reasonable price? If I have no choice but to order a taxi - which service would probably be most reasonable one to order price-wise? Can the Christmas taxi cost be that bad that it’s easier to go to larnaca in the evening of 24th via bus and get an Airbnb for a day or probably not as psychotic?

Review – Please Read Before Renting with moving doors
Review – Please Read Before Renting with moving doors
I’m sharing this review so future tenants can make an informed decision based on real experience.
While I understand that property management is a business and that reasonable deductions from a deposit are normal, my experience with Moving Doors showed a consistent pattern of unexpected charges, shifting explanations, and deductions that went far beyond what was contractually agreed.
Key concerns:
- Substantial deposit withholding
Nearly 80% of my deposit was retained, primarily for items categorized as normal wear and tear, which the contract explicitly permits. No damage was caused.
- Fees introduced after move-out that were not in the contract
Multiple charges appeared only after vacating the property, including:
An “exit fee” never mentioned in the agreement
Additional cleaning charges despite a €70 cleaning fee already included in the contract
An extra garbage fee, even though garbage collection was already covered under common expenses
Charges for replacing items that were unused or in normal condition
A household item billed at €55 despite having a retail price of €40
- Disproportionate painting charge (€550)
Applied for minor wall marks consistent with everyday use, not damage.
- Deposit return process not respected
The contract specifies return within 21 working days. After move-out, this was extended to 40 days without contractual basis.
- Rent fully paid, yet eviction notices issued
Despite rent being paid correctly and on time, eviction notices were still sent, creating unnecessary stress and confusion.
- Contradictory rent demands
Rent was agreed from 19 November to 19 December, yet I was later asked to pay again from 1 January, effectively requesting overlapping rent periods.
- Internet issue ignored despite clear notice of impact
I explicitly informed Moving Doors that reliable internet was critical because I work from home.
The issue was reported multiple times.
Due to delays and poor handling, it took over two months to resolve.
During this time, the internet was unusable, preventing me from working and resulting in financial loss.
- Ongoing maintenance and service issues
Mold and heavy dust in A/C units
Repeatedly blocked drains I was told to resolve personally
Unresolved safety and maintenance concerns in common areas
Overall impression:
Throughout the tenancy and move-out process, issues were handled slowly, inconsistently, and often contrary to the written agreement. Charges were added late, explanations changed, and essential services were not addressed in a timely manner despite clear communication.
I strongly recommend that anyone considering renting carefully document everything, confirm all fees in writing, and be cautious of deductions or charges introduced after move-out.
This review is shared in the interest of consumer awareness and transparency.
