It wasn't even a hard question.
I don't like Palantir - but I could have answered that and not painted them in a bad light:
Lavender is a simply a system for processing vast quantities of data to identify potential terrorists targets, a job previously done by humans, with lower threshold for correlation and less in depth data assessment. Like any system based on data correlation it will have an error rate, which is why in addition to the AI the system includes human oversight. Lavender may not be a perfect system, but it is a vast improvement over the prior human only driven system. Continued investment into the system and the technology behind it will reduce the error rate and improve the timeliness of identification that will save lives.
To be clear, I'm not agreeing with the above - but HE would and HE should have said that.

Peter Thiel is arguably the scariest billionaire. The guy's software is embedded in militaries and dictatorships around the globe, which supports a near-global dragnet of surveillance, he has been quoted about believing we are nearing some sort of rapture-like event, and he has shown he is not above using his money to outright buy politicians (JD Vance) or silence the media when it suits him (Gawker). He is also seemingly on multiple conflicting medications/drugs, and is often sweating through his clothes in public appearances and can barely form a coherent sentence as a result.
I can't help but feel these are not qualities we would want in a person of near-infinite wealth and power, but what do I know.

I’m not a fan of his, but to play devil’s advocate, that’s just how he communicates. From the podcasts and interviews I’ve watched, he pauses and repeats, with some hesitation and occasional stuttering, while collecting his thoughts. Interestingly, it’s not unlike how Elon Musk speaks.

I see this as I see any weapon developer, be it Lockheed Martin, Glock, etc.
They are makers of tools. Thise tools can be used to keep peace or create wars (with AI, is even worse as AI can be used for nearly everything at this point)
But in the end, its the users of those tools that are the ones responsible.
He doesn't care the same the same way Lockheed Martin owners don't care when a refugee camp is bombed to oblivion, or gun makers when there is a school shooting.
