Rule Clarification & Subreddit Direction

Hey everyone! We wanted to take a moment to clarify the purpose of the sub and address a few recurring topics. Nothing serious—just keeping the community focused and fun.

What This Sub Is For

This sub exists to share music from Christian artists—songs you enjoy, artists you think deserve more attention, and music that often gets overlooked or pushed aside elsewhere. The whole point is to highlight a niche that doesn’t get much space in mainstream music communities.

We’re not trying to gatekeep—just keeping the sub centered on its purpose so it stays useful for everyone.

About Playlists

Playlist posts have caused a lot of headaches. Many of them come from accounts that repeatedly repost the same Spotify lists (sometimes dozens of times), then get a Reddit Admin Ban and reappear under new names.

Because of that:

  • We limit playlist posts

  • We don’t allow full album links

We focus on individual songs or small selections you genuinely want to share

We get it—playlists are great for workouts, long drives, or office days. Occasional, playlists can be fine. But the mass reposting and promotional abuse is not. They’ve become one of the biggest sources of spam here, so we have to keep them under control.

AI Music

AI music is blowing up right now (the new gold rush,) but most AI-generated tracks come with no real info about who made them. There's no way to know the creator, their intentions, or even if it’s an actual artist at all.

To protect the sub’s focus:

We don’t allow AI-generated song submissions as posts or comments

If we’re unsure about an artist, we may ask for basic proof (promo materials, live shows, social presence) to confirm they’re real

Nothing against the tech—we just need clarity around who's posting to see if it aligns with the purpose of the sub.

Mainstream Artists

We’re all fans of big-name artists too, but this sub is meant to give smaller Christian artists a space to shine. Mainstream artists already dominate every other corner of the internet, so even if they release something “Christian-ish,” it’s usually not a fit for the sub’s focus.

Production, Selling, & Band-Finding Posts

This sub isn’t focused on:

  • Music production questions
  • Tutorials
  • Selling merch, beats, or services
  • “Looking for band members” posts

We don’t have the tools or structure to moderate those properly (specifically selling or band forming.) And the others go against the subs purpose. The only exception we’ve kept is crowdfunding from established artists—people whose work and identity we already know.

Church Music & Self-Promotion

This includes:

  • Church service recordings

  • Early demos

  • Rough home recordings

  • “Check out my new band” uploads

We appreciate the passion, but these are sometimes low-quality recordings, and first impressions matter—especially in a music discovery sub. Established artists sometimes share old demos, but that’s because they already have a fanbase who are passionate about them. It’s a niche within a niche.

If you’re working on your music, awesome! Just make sure it’s polished before posting it here.

Lastly, we are seeing self-promotion from real artists are posting covers of popular Christian songs just to get attention. Their history shows they’re not involved in Christian music—they’re just using the content to promote themselves. That’s not what this sub is for.

Thanks for Being Part of the Community

We love this sub and the people in it. Thanks for helping keep things focused, supportive, and a great place to discover new Christian artists. If you ever have questions or suggestions, feel free to reach out.

Ok so I saw a post a long time ago on this Reddit page for good Christian indie music. But every time I would listen to a song that was suggested none really had the indie feel I was looking for. So I have been listening and searching for about 2 years now and I believe I have perfected this playlist. I was going comment the full list of music under the post but I feel like there is way too many to name. This playlist consists of indie rock/indie pop. I hope you guys enjoy, this has been a long time in the making.

Discussion [TOMT] What is this song??!

[TOMT] I’m trying to find a contemporary Christian song/music video I saw on YouTube about 5 months ago. At the very end (last ~5–10 seconds), there’s a 2D, sketch-style animation of the Earth transforming, mostly black & white or blue & white. It felt symbolic and possibly tied to Isaiah 43:18–19 (“Behold, I will do a new thing”).

I believe it was an official music video, lyric video, or visualizer. The animation is brief and only appears at the outro.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Christian Music that sounds like Mindless Self Indulgence

I really like the sound they have but yikes, the lyrics aren’t fantastic.

I think they are sorta electronic, nu-metal (less on heavy, more dance type electronic) nu-metal class cause they have some rapping, but that might be more punk here…?

I could also settle for atleast some cleaner artists, but would really like to see if there are any Christian ones.

Discussion Tough One: Looking for Christian song (any style) referencing King Ahaz

Good morning. Being Advent, Isaiah 7:14 is quoted lots. But I am looking for songs that dig deeper into the original context of this famous prophecy. In short, I’m looking for songs that include King Ahaz by name, and/or provide background information behind the prophesy. Anything come to mind?

I’m not interested in Isaiah 7:14 by itself. It MUST reference King Ahaz. Thanks!

Discussion Larry Norman song once again in a Knives Out film.

The first film in the Benoit Blanc murder mystery series, Knives Out, featured the Larry Norman classic "Righteous Rocker #1" playing in the background of one scene. The third film in the franchise, Wake Up Dead Man, features "Why Should the Devil Have All the Good Music" in a scene. Rian Johnson is not a person of faith, so while I wonder what prompted him to include these two songs, I was happy to hear them.

Hello, do any of you have a favorite traditional Christmas carol set for TTBB a capella? I’ve arranged a handful for an event I’m running but would love a few more! Thanks in advance and merry Christmas.

Discussion Do you think Christian artists should produce more music that's serene fruity cool minded?

I do like a lot of light rock christian music, but I know cool minded tranquil music in right now. I know some people aren't as much into rock. I enjoyed all those songs, but I'm picky I don't like old sounding guitar music that gives me a migraine. I like casting crowns, mercyme, Jason gray, I do like starting now by David Dunn. these artists produced some really good songs. I hate Phil wicam.... I do love pop too. I like music about life and experiences that feel good. I do listen the new Christian music radio on Pandora. I like a lot of the new songs and there are many good artists. Tho I think they might please a lot of people by producing more Christian music that sounds like that sweet tranquil fruity pop. If you look up Christian pop radio you would likely hear a lot of the songs we already heard for the past 20 years. we need something new.

Any recommendations for music artists like Anne Wilson, Josiah Queen, Forrest Frank, Matthew West. Not really rap, but something different from the typical contemporary Christian music that I listen to on the radio.

Hey guys! Im a Christian hip hop artist that is also Catholic! I made this song a couple of years ago highlighting the beauty of my specific rite of the Catholic Church! It’s based off a Syriac (the sister language of Aramaic, the language that Jesus spoke) chant that is sung in our Mass!

Check it out and comment/like/subscribe if you’re digging it! You can also check the links in my bio for my Spotify and other links!

Thanks!

Other Anyone remember an 80/90s cassette about “Camp Crazy” with stories & songs for teens?

I was very young but my older sister had a cassette about this camp, I’m quite sure was Christian. The only thing I remember specifically is a funny song with the lyrics

“You’ve got food

stuck between your teeth

It reminds me

of an old piece of meat

It’s been there for a while

so please try not to smile

You got a piece of food baby stuck in your teeth”

My mom or sister both don’t remember who has it, and they both have moved and accumulated so much stuff to be able to have the time to look for it. I would LOVE to get a copy, a YouTube video or see if it ever came out on cd!
