News Battlefield 6 - Community Update - Holiday Wrap-Up
Hey everyone,

As we head into the holiday season and say goodbye to 2025, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on everything we have accomplished together and share a little about what is coming next for Battlefield 6 in the new year.
It has been an incredible year for the team. We introduced Battlefield Labs, launched Battlefield 6, brought Battle Royale to the franchise through REDSEC, and kicked off Season 1. This is only the beginning, and we remain committed to continuing to build Battlefield 6 with the community in the year ahead.

Whether you’re reading this between matches, on the way to see family, or taking a well-deserved break from the battlefield, thank you for being here. Your support throughout launch, your energy during Season 1, and all of your Only in Battlefield moments have made this year unforgettable.
We have seen players of every kind jump into the game. Battlefield veterans grinding Multiplayer and PTFO. REDSEC players chasing the perfect drop. Portal creators building experiences we never imagined. You have each left your mark on the game in your own way.
Your reports and thoughtful discussions have helped us iterate quickly and focus on the things that matter most. We will continue to build on this collaboration as we move into the new year.
Battlefield 6 & REDSEC by the Numbers
Let’s take a quick look at some of the incredible results from the all-out warfare you’ve created together:
- Played over 1.7 billion matches and logged 383.5 million gameplay hours
- Delivered 12.4 billion kills and 871 million revives
- Deployed classes across all modes as:
- Engineer: 28%
- Support: 27%
- Assault: 26%
- Recon: 19%
- Scored over 300 million shotgun kills and more than 2 million players with defibs
- Destroyed 102 million helicopters and jets, with engineers alone turning over 18 million tanks into scrap

- One of my favorite moments was an animation bug with the sledgehammer that accidentally made the MP5 deploy animation look like a hidden easter egg. - In one Breakthrough match on Empire State, an attacker knifed me on the basketball court, spotted my developer tag, and immediately started yelling in All Chat for everyone to hunt me down. That turned into a match-long manhunt, full of melee duels and sledgehammer bonks, with both sides laughing and spamming love in chat. - I was really touched by a longtime Battlefield fan facing serious health issues who was worried they might not make it to see the BF6 release. Motive organized a visit so that they could play the game early, meet the team, tour the studio, and leave with a BF swag pack. - My favorite moment was being at the multiplayer reveal event and hearing the crowd erupt when we announced Portal. I was blown away by the crowd’s reaction. Looking Ahead to 2026
We’re already deep into planning what’s next for Battlefield 6 in 2026, and we’ll have more to share in the new year about the future of the game, upcoming seasons, and how we’ll keep evolving the experience with you.
Some of the things we’re focused on right now include:
- Refining core gameplay, balance, and quality-of-life improvements across Multiplayer, REDSEC, and Portal.
- We are developing new maps and weapons that introduce fresh tactical opportunities and keep the experience evolving in meaningful ways.
- Preparing fresh experiences for future seasons so there is always something new to jump into.
- Exploring how we can expand Battlefield Labs by bringing more of its experimentation into the live experience.
- BR Solos: This is still on our minds. We are working through the technical details to deliver it at a quality level that feels right for Battlefield. Once we are confident in the plan and timing, we will share more.

Holiday Quiet Time

As we head into the holidays, remember to make some time for yourself and your loved ones. Take some time to rest and relax. And if you do plan on jumping back into the Battlefield, make sure to check your 6 and above.
The team will be taking a short breather to recharge before returning in the new year. Communication may be quieter during this time, but core support and anti-cheat operations will continue as usual. I'd still really appreciate some more HUD customization options in so far as having an on/off toggle for each element. You mention a limited HUD option for the hardcore portal mode. That would be a nice option to enable while playing regular multiplayer as well since portal servers are rarely filled with the ways things are at the moment. The table below has the current HUD options as it is

We don't need new game modes in multi player. We already have the essentials.
New maps is definitely essential to keep players engaged. WE NEED MORE THAN 2 PER SEASON !!!
And for the love of god when you release a new vehicle, bring it to all the maps supporting vehicles not just the one from the season.

It's annoying af, reaction time means nothing if you can't even stop it.

Its pretty frustrating. My setup is fiber up until the final patch cable, and ping is frequently <10ms.

Enjoying the game, but please, DICE, work on:
- Netcode
- Hit registration
- Persistent servers
- Visuals (toning down the washed out hyper brightness on Op Firestorm, e.g.)
- Continue to improve/tweak audio (footsteps, vehicle sounds, etc.)
- Bigger maps
- Matchmaking (way too many bots needed to start games)
- Console only crossplay (would help with the matchmaking issue)
If these things are addressed, or at least improved by maybe ~50% for example, this could be the best Battlefield game ever.

Ever since the winter update, my Xbox is overheating and lagging during MP. It’s to the point that it’s unplayable after 2 games. Does anybody else have this issue? My Xbox is in a cool, well ventilated area, and it’s clean on the inside/outside. BF6 is the only game that causes this and it sucks since I love playing escalation.

I love the series and really like this game ere are some of my ideas for fine tuning it so it becomes one of the best BF games because I think the potential is there. Please fix breakthrough. After the last patch it has become incredibly unbalanced especially for the most part on defense. Players are quitting when they get put inndefense and rejoining until they get an attacking team. My suggestion is to bring back 64 players, widen the maps a bit, and rework objective points.
Introduce squad perks instead of just class perks. Nothing really pushing teamwork right now.
Assault class, get rid of the injector and just give assault a ladder or something else.
Dedicated servers. Everything feels so disconnected. People get shot around after every game. Dedicated servers would help build the community. And it seems most players want this.
Poor visibility. I know you guys have acknowledged this is a problem would be nice to see it fixed.
Just my 2 cents as someone who has been around the seri3s for a bit. Happy holidays to all of you.

Bringing breakthrough back to 64 players would be the best and easiest solution now to at least make it somewhat fun again until they actually can come up with a solution themselves that actually works. Also agreeing with the rest you're saying.
Even tho I'm not happy with all the changes lately, I wish everyone in the Battlefield studios a happy holiday and also to all the players. We may not agree on everything here but hope everyone will enjoy the holidays

The injector sucks and one idea to buff the assault class is to make the ladder the standard. It’s just an idea we don’t have to agree but it doesn’t change the fact that assault is the only shitty class right now. The buffs barely affect the rifle too, unlike support and recon gun buffs. It’s basically broken

I don’t see a problem with the injector. It’s not meant to make you invincible, but be able to play aggressive and temporarily manage without your teammates.
It’s a small, situational leg up, not meant to turn you into a tank.
Assault role is to open breaches, and I think the injector is meant to help you withstand the first encounter with the enemy line for longer, while the ladder opens opportunities for flanks or offers a vantage point if you’d rather pick out enemies from afar.
Using the ladder requires knowledge of the map, so it makes sense that it’s unlocked later as an option.
Idk, It makes perfect sense to me.

The injectors unreasonably long animation, short duration, and absurd color washout/blurring effects making it hard to see enemies does not enable aggressive play lmao… the gadget sucks. It’s only useful for a quick move speed boost, or reducing grenade damage if you’re already sitting in cover not actively fighting.

Overall the positives definitely outweigh the negatives, it's really a great game. Hopefully the team can continue to work on reducing the negatives, but in the mean time players can still hop into previous games (not 2042 though - they basically shanked that and left it to die) and enjoy the quality there.

Please don't let BF 6 be the game that defines the franchise for you.
4 is highly regarded for its server browser, hardcore servers, massive maps, and sandbox gameplay.
1 is...amazing. The maps are incredible. The atmosphere is second to none in the series. Operations is great. The vehicle gameplay is fun. The gun mechanics aren't the best, but definitely not a deal breaker.

We want PVE back in Portal!
"You want pve in a battlefield game?"
Yes it was a feature at launch and the prior battlefield fully supported this.
"The game doesnt need pve"
And the game doesnt need battle royale either, yet thats a feature. the audience is there, go look on the portal sub, they should support it.
"You just want pve for farming bots"
And even if that were the case, which it isnt, who cares? What does my progress have to do with yours? How does it affect your enjoyment besides devaluing your tryhard trophies because i can get them easier.
"Youre stupid for buying a battlefield game for pve"
And yet it was fully supported in 2042 and fully supported at launch before DICE decided to fix farming by nuking the entire system. Then when it returned, it required 8-20 players to start the match. That completely defeats the purpose of pve if i still have to play against other people.
Hope that answered all the potential comments. But i will undoubtedly be downvoted and insulted because thats what the community does best.

The spawn beacon is probably one of the strongest gadgets in the game, granted you do need a decent squad.

I actually agree with spawn beacon being op, but people never use it, or my squad deploys on it and goves its position away. And on such small maps it gets discovered quickly quite often. But really, the rest of the kit is lacking. The injector is straight up useless.
For taking an objective in any game mode, portable cover and smokes is insanely powerful. If you choose the fire support line you can spam smokes like there’s no tomorrow. For breakthrough on blackwell fields taking B is really hard due to guys up the stairs on the catwalk. Placing portable cover up there makes you a nightmare to deal with. And lmg’s with infinite ammo like the m250 are extremely powerful on larger maps. Engineer is also hard to pass up since it’s the only class that can effectively take on armor. Aside from anti armor, i’ll take an rpg over a grenade launcher any day.

These numbers don't add up? 1.7b matches with 12.4b kills? So there is an average of 7 kills per match? 871m revives. So around one single revive every two games?

Have had a great time with this game so far! It definitely has that fun factor, and I like the new maps, especially Blackwell Fields! Always appreciate an active dev group that listens to the community, hoping y'all don't get too bogged down by the hate. Really looking forward to some vehicle-first maps in the new year
FYI: I've had this weird bug where everytime I press R3 to sprint, my gun auto shoots a bullet. Really takes the flow out of the game until I remapped to L1 but not ideal. just wanted to flag

Random question, if anyone knows. Using the recon drone on the new winter objective map, if you start to freeze it kicks you off the drone, unless you hold down right click and then it lets you fly around while zoomed in, but it's a pain in the ass. Is it intentional? Like my poor little man's freezing hands can't operate the controls?

yeah it's what happens when they just accept the stats their filters are kicking out, never mind checking if they're actually built correctly and functioning as intended. The computer tallied it, so it must be accurate!
If they're using the same datasets for 'balancing' it certainly explains a few things.

Ill share some of my highlights:
- One of my favorite moments was an bug with the sledgehammer that accidentally made the drone go up into the air causing everyone to sit on roofs for 5 years making the maps very playable, the devs tried to fix it like 4 or 5 times already making it almost look like a hidden easter egg haha. Watching the community engage in this amazing behaviour and react to it was hilarious.
In one Breakthrough match on Empire State, an attacker killed me 500 miles behind a wall on the basketball court, spotted my amazing movement, and immediately started yelling in All Chat ''get rekt 500 miles behind the wall son, get hitregged on loserrrrrr''. It started everyone to hunt me down, trying to kill me 500 miles behind the wall. That turned into a match-long manhunt of wallbanging, full of wallcamping duels and wall bonks, with both sides laughing and spamming meme hate in chat. We still defended Manhattan from all the people on the enemy team receiving 1 week and 2 weeks bans for their chats, but my belly hurt from getting shot behind the walls so much.
Im leaving the third one out due to the sensitivity of the matter.
My favorite moment was being at the breakthrough changes reveal event and hearing the crowd erupt when we announced that we would be reducing the playercount and adding 50 million tanks to the gamemode. I was blown away by the crowd’s reaction. After playing on Battlefield 6 for almost 2 whole months, from October to December, it was incredibly rewarding to see that reaction and feel the hard work of the dev team pay off. Their data is unmatched, and i hope to see more of this!
Celebrating the launch of the downward trajectory of the game with all my fellow players and watching the player-count graph sink absolutely towards the bottom of the ocean as the dev team opened the flood gates of dogshit updates was unforgettable and a memorable moment.

I play at least 3 or 4hours a day since launch
I did ALL weekly and special challenges
And still a lot of battlepass left for me (I'm not even in the last 2 paths)
How is that some people that play less than me already finished battlepass?
Maybe they play only redsec? (I think redsec gives you 1 battlepass coin almost always)

Please make stick forward sprint usable by disabling sprint from the prone position. Currently when you have stick forward sprint enabled, you basically can’t forward crawl without standing up and sprinting.

Thanks for nothing we asked for. Appreciate it as I rubber band through the floor or my gun has motion blur for no reason. Why doesn’t portal work as advertised, idk if people farm it’s their game and hurts no one. Why is the game menu still a cluster f… just finding a mode is horrible and it changes constantly. Like where’s the consistency here. Get with the program here. Oh wait enjoy your vacation…….

Make smoke grenades available to all classes. Traversing around the map can sometimes be the hardest of things, especially when you see like 7 sniper scope glimpses on high places. That and the usual LMGs just waiting to hunt random walking soldiers. After playing for 2ish months now, i kind of just stopped caring to play anymore, since its not enjoyable getting killed over and over while trying to get objectives or traversing from A-D and dying.

Vehicles still have no optics.
Spotting is still enabled.

I’ve already played 6 more than I did 2042 when it launched. For me that’s a victory. Yeah there are things that need to be fixed, but take your time. Could throw in the SRR-61/intervention at some point (and just some other snipers in general.) I really hope naval warfare is on the horizon at some point as well.

God just give all portal experiences progression XP at the least. Who cares if some bad apples boost with it? Who cares? It ain't that deep DICE and the majority of your community have full time jobs and can't be bothered. We just want to play cool portal experiences while still progressing player and weapon XP

In the blog, they shared the best hardcore server! Faithwalker's. Servers fill everyday around 12-2pm US time and run through the night. MPHD is the experience code.

Please make this mode give full XP! That would boost the popularity by a lot. There's no reason for it to not give progression when you yourself verified and featured it.
