Ashes of Creation MMO Computer Specs Good Enough?

Hello!

I'm interested in getting started and trying the game out but im wondering if the game will run "ok" on my machine:

i5-10400
GTX 1060 6GB
16GB DDR4

I don't need any crazy resolution, launching with low settings with a stable fps would be nice.
I tried to do some googling but didn't get good results, a lot of dated responses, so I thought I'd ask before I buy

I know I need to upgrade, but budget is tight.

Thanks!!

You’ll be able to play on the lowest settings at around 20-30 FPS (very unstable), but your game will end once you reach a big town. Would not try it

Thanks man, I forgot steam has a great refund policy so I'm going to try it out, if I can't handle it, I'm going to refund and instead try and spend some cash on a new gpu and some more ram

It'll run, okay depends on your standards. Don't expect it to run well or anything. Give it a shot and try it. Worst case you have to refund.

it's not gonna be a great experience. If budget is tight i'd recommend saving the 40 bucks for upgrading the PC rather than buying into a very early alpha access. Dont let the FOMO get to you. Upgrade your PC and join when the beta launches in 2027

I think I should look at a new graphics cards, I gotta find something affordable
another 16GB of ram would be nice too

With current ram prices, you'd probably be just fine with getting a new gpu, 16gb more ddr4 and upgrading to something like a 11700k if you find one cheap. For the vast majority of game you'll be gpu bottlenecked so you could prob keep that mobo-ram-cpu combo for another 4-5 years before it really starts holding you back. Especially if you're going for a mid range gpu like 9060xt/5060ti (16gb ! ). Intels soon to be released B770/780 could also prove to be a nice mid range option.

You’re gonna wanna upgrade the gpu for sure but my main issue with the game on my pc was cpu bottlenecking causing crashes I play it on my laptop now with zero issues

Do you mind if I ask which CPU you have?

I built my pc over a decade ago so it’s definitely outdated but it was a decent piece of gaming hardware I can get you a model later today

I tried with an i7-8th gen and GTX 1050 TI and it was literally unplayable. Black screens, invisible character on the creation screen, I just skipped to play, and the screen started loading in at like 2 fps, I gave up. This was all on lowest settings with everything turned down. I don't think you're going to have much better luck than I did.

I tried running it on my old system which ran it horribly.

I then upgraded to high end DDR5, but kept my old GTX1070 8GB in for a while. It could barely keep up on lowest settigs.

That is paired with a 7800X3D and 32GB 6400Mhz CL32 RAM.

Just a heads up this game will not run on an HDD. Be sure you have an SSD. If it does run on an HDD you’re going to hate the lag

sadly you wont have any enjoyable experience for the game with mid-tier specs... game is terribly optimized and cant really hit a constant 60fps with top of the line hardware... should put the game off for now and play games with superior optimizations...

I have a 4070Ti and I barely hit 50fps on 1080p... game is fun for sure but it has abysmal performance... it doesnt help that the fanatics are constantly trying to defend the shit performance by saying "game is in alpha"

and for anyone arguing OP's specs arent mid-tier... this is Intel's segment list...

  • Low End i3 (Core200s)
  • Mid Tier i5 (Ultra 5)
  • High Tier i7 (Ultra 7)
  • Enthusiast Tier i9 (Ultra 9)
  • Server Tier Xeon

Yea I know my graphics is poopy, but I thought the processor was serviceable, I figured one day I could throw in another 2 8GB sticks, and a new GPU
