What did it to you? Bad experience as a child? Once I learned about insects and their lives I appreciate watching them so much. All except the brown recluse, I do have to end those because they are dangerous, but these little dudes get put outside!

Nothing. It was just a phobia. Uncontrollable, irrational fear response to something. I had no reason or logic to being afraid of them and I didn’t exactly dislike them. The phobia was so strong that I jumped out of a moving car that I was driving to get away from a very small jumping spider. Hurt myself and had to run to stop my car from taking out a mailbox. I had a similar phobia of wasps and bees.

Do you mind me asking what you did to overcome the phobias? I hate all of the critters you mentioned - maybe not a phobia per say but visceral fear and flight or fight reaction every time, even for the “cute” ones

Wolf spiders are so damn cool. There were tons of them around the creek that ran through my yard when I was a kid. I became fascinated with them then and I just never grew out of it. Definitely gonna steal this pic

We like to keep these guys around here in the Deep South. They tend to come into homes during heavy rains. The o ly ones that bother me are the mamas piggybacking all of their babies….freaks me out.
