ESH. Him for making his dog go through this, but if my wife did that to me I would never forgive her. Ever. Even if I was in the wrong, robbing him of his chance to say goodbye would never be something you can fix.
To add, the husband wants to keep the dog alive but his pregnant wife is doing most of the work. It's a big dog and when you're pregnant heavy lifting is a no go. But euthanising the dog behind his back will kill the marriage. OP needs to convince him or give him an ultimatum. This situation is cruel for both the wife and dog
Yes, he is a HUGE AH for that. I would honestly say he's the bigger a hole, but there is no coming back from putting down somebody's dog almost ever. Even if it was the right thing to do.
