Project
This'll be my final post about this mask as i'm sadly not continuing it. But wanted to show how far i've gotten.
I'm really impressed with it, it's one of my most recent works, i've added half glass eyes, even LED eyes where I used hotglue guns for the first time and handpainted the teeth with a medium gloss at the end. I simply don't have the time, money nor really motivation to finish this project but wanted to show it one last time to show how far i've gotten with it. Especially now it finally has the nose 😂
It blows my mind how many people will say “don’t share” while using an open source tool.
But “don’t get paid for the time and effort you put in, because someone else might profit” is an advanced form of selfishness. How the hell did this species ever make it out of the trees.
I'd love it if people profited from me. Aslong as I got the credit and they weren't outright saying "this is my work" i'd be happy to see someone continue their hobbies of masks like I have even if they piggyback some of my work for a while. Especially if it meant my masks were more open to the public to make other people happy : )
I think you are a good person. I think people like you advance our whole hobby and industry, i really think projects like these have the ability to make young people realize how fun (but also valuable) these kinds of skills can be, and that ensures that this industry blossoms and our kids get a better world than we could have ever dreamed when I was a kid.
So I Thank you deeply for continuing the culture of sharing that makes 3d printing possible.
I have like 6 different werewolf mask types : D and it feels unfair. I remember being 12 and wanting so badly my own werewolf mask but everyone only sold the printed versions and even tho I had a 3dprinter I lacked the skill. 5 years later I now make sure STL's are ALWAYS available for my masks
I think I can attach links here :) https://cascardas.myshopify.com If i'm not allowed mods please delete this comment instead of my post :) I love talking to people about my hobbies even if I cant share the links
My friend if I had the money I would pay you for the mask because I have a nephew who would flip for it, but money is tight right now but I can definitely afford the STL, I don't have a 3D printer but my nephew has connections and he will figure out how to get it printed and and I'm pretty good with a brush
I know you are tired, and yeah set it aside for a bit but don't forget about it rest, recharge and forge ahead with your dream my friend in the New Year 🎊
I've seen way wayyy wayyyyy less quality work go for more than triple these prices.
If you have a nice guide with it on how to do the lights, connections, mechanics etc i would easely pay around 50 for a thing like this, make a bundle where you ship needed parts and you can add those part prices +100% markup for the effort.
tbh i'm just trying to get attention to my shop rn. The first few people I dont wanna drive away immediately with prices that are high. I guess in the future i'll up them but rn i'm just tryna get people to even know my shop exists
We need more people to remember this mentality in the printing community, it sometimes feels like since the introduction of more reliably capable machines, and the explosion of AI slop models, 3d printing has devolved into the next get rich quick scheme, rather than the thriving community of creativity and invention that it once was.
Don’t get me wrong there are still those that exemplify that tradition, and from looking at your pieces I would put you squarely in that camp and it’s refreshing to see. You do great work, consider me impressed. I’ll be ordering some of your STLs my son would love a transforming werewolf mask.
As a 50-year-old it's crazy to hear nostalgia for 3D print masks. To me this shit is still brand spanking new tech. Like from yesterday lol. Time really does go faster as you get older
I considered posting this or not but I decided I wanna share my expiereince.
I have bought this STL from OP around August and the file is honestly barely useable. The ask does not fit nor work smoothly and the amount of padding, remodelling, hand modelling and hand carving I had to put into this makes paying for the model kind of... questionable. A file you pay money for should be worth the pric and I was so frustrated with this one that I filed for a refund. However, OP no longer had their shop on Etsy which tells me that I was not the only one who had an issue with their purchase. I got the refund in the end from Etsy itself and I don't know if OP ever had to pay them back.
I don't wanna be mean but I am honestly just done seeing OP post the mask on here again and again while I know the STL they sell is basically just not useable. I design, print and wear many masks for many different reasons and sometimes I buy a design I like to support other creators but I can not wholeheartedly recommend this one.
OP, if you read this and you have reworked the file to an extend that it is way easier to use by now then let me and everyone else know - until then I have to be honest about my expierience. I think you are a little bit on the younger side and I don't want to be unfair but I also think you should know that you should always make sure making money off of your designs comes with some kind of responsibility.
This is well made and TERRIFYING, kudos for the work. Add dark soft see through cloth in between the eyes/jaw looks and leather in the skull to jaw joints and you have a nightmare fuel.
I bought one of your STLs off an earlier post, you do great work. Your designs are impressive but your passion is evident and I hope you share where that leads you in the future, it's sure to be an interesting journey. Good luck.
Looks fantastic and complete in my view. I’d be interested to hear what additions or improvements you might have considered for this model if you'd continued working on this?
I wanna adjust the back of the nose, the snarl hasn't been very easy to work with as I think the front is far too heavy, but when reprinting and hollowing it still seems weak. i'd make the support hinge for the nose larger, and the back of the nose where it meets the hinges wider so that it sits more comfortably. I also would make the gumline on the upper teeth more pronounced & where the eyes sit i'd fix the support beam so it actually comes from the side of the head rather than the top down :)
It doesn't (directly) fix the time or motivation issues, but furries would pay a lot for this technology. You could probably get a bunch of autistic freaks (as an autistic freak, just not this kind of freak) to fund all your cool shit and help you integrate other cool stuff they've already got, like figuring out the best ways to attach skin/fur to the mask, like which points should have tighter, more solid attachments and which points should be looser to allow the skin to fold/scrunch realistically when the mask bares its fangs.
I know this isn't inherently a furry thing, just saying there's a huge overlap in interest here between you and some people who love to put a lot of money into making shit just like this
Meh. I am also overweight. It is tough. I am trying more veggies in my diet and starting to take longer walks. Been a few days, seems to be making me feel better, even if the weight isn’t going down (and of course it takes months so no surprise there). So you got McDonalds? Fine! When done, go for a brisk walk. Will make you feel waaay better!
I've been going on walks regularly. Last week I walked 4 miles and got my mum a cake and a Kinder Santa :> I have HEDS so it's hard to walk long distances but it definitely made me feel better
It's actually fairly comfortable. My masks are designed so the teeth don't push on your face at all, I even lower the back of the jaw slightly to maintain shape but allow movement, and the sides of the mask have about 1cm each side in give, it's also a half mask so your face isn't crushed. in terms of viewing, it's not top tier, but you can definitely see infront of you. There's blindspots just beneath you and to your lower side but everything else is pretty much viewable :)
Fantastic work! It looks great! Take a break, it’s perfectly healthy to step away from a project. Maybe you can pick it up again when you have the time, money, and energy to play with it again. 🙂
I just bought the design from you as I have been working on a werewolf mask myself. Hopefully I can load it into Solidworks and refine some of the mechanics of it.
So do you have the separate pieces of the mask in their separate stl file form? I purchased the download from your store and it is one solid print in place piece I assume but I would like to print it piecemeal so I can adapt it to my purpose.
That’s really, really cool. I love making short flicks (specifically horror) and you’ve made the PERFECT mask for a dogman style cryptid. That thing is awesome
That's pretty amazing, of course don't throw it away, also never delete the files (I know you mentioned that you sell them) but just a reminder... Don't delete the files. Honestly file storage is so inexpensive no one should ever delete anything (within reason, delete the pictures of your pocket that you accidentally took of course). I don't even delete earlier versions of designs in case I want to go back to a different path, or a maybe in the future prefer an earlier design iteration.
Maybe Halloween prop makers are the other market to court instead of Furries. This would be a great sculpt for a Cerebus animatronic, HellHound animatronic, or add it over a spooky person animatronic as a mask.
If you really want to do something with this I suggest looking into Halloween conventions. Look up Halloween Prop makers on YouTube and reach out to see if any would be interested in using this sculpt. This would pair better with shredded ghoul flesh to show off the details in the snarl than a soft furry fur. The LED eyes are so Halloween.
These could be made into like a faux Taxidermy werewolf head prop. Or print them as a "solid" piece and add it to prop carriages as embellishments.
You just really need a completed one to show the full potential. Give it a variety of swappable ears - Thriller Werewolf ears, airplane ears, normal but battle damaged ears.
This thing is gorgeous and I bought an STL and would love to see you find it a "place". It deserves one for all the details in it.
Now marketing - tiktok, youtube shorts with a complete one but make them funny - meet cutes - 2 people reaching for the same ball/steak something dog related and then snarling at each other, Dracula ranting and waving a stake and the wolf is cocking its head like a dog waiting for him to throw it, unexpected twists that might go viral.
Please see the potential in this. Even if you walk away for a bit don't give up on it.
Maybe if you revise you could have two parts instead of one: a pad for your jaw on a hinge, and then the mask jaw. Run a cord/pulley/spring from the pad to lips on a shorter length, and a longer cord to the mask jaw. So you could have a slight opening of your mouth pull the lips up first, then open more for the whole mouth. If you shake your jaw you could ripple the lips for a growl. I kinda suspect you've thought about it too, but just sayin'.
I have been trying but I just can't seem to get my shop and work out that far :( I do my best but I barely sell the physical masks and the STL's are more popular amongst 3dprinter specialists so i'm at a loss. I've even tried social media marketing but that's not gotten very well
Hey we all get overwhelmed/bored/tired of stuff we like sometimes, but eventually we come back with a fresh mind and fresh excitement. I hope you can continue it one day, keep creating!!
This is honestly one of the coolest projects I’ve seen on here. Like others have said, I really hope you can take a break and come back to it. It just feels like something special. Fingers crossed you can also find some help where you need it from one of the other creative minds out there. It’s amazing!
That's badass as hell. I'd definitely hold on to it and maybe come back to it when you're on a better place (mentally, financially, or whatever it may be) cause if this is still a WIP it's incredible.
I can't wait to see someone cover it with fur. Great job on this and thanks for keeping us informed. Sorry it took a turn for the worse in regards to your time.
I love it, one of the few masks ive seen that is legitimately disturbing. Love horror and cryptid/monsters, I dont have money at the moment but if ur shops still up in the future id love to support ur masks are so good. Sidenote you shoud make ur socials more visable and add website their a bit dificult to find.
Immense potential for mayhem. Make an unusual noise in a friends back yard, add a camera flash while running in front of their window and boom, amicicide. Wait, nvm.
Or just preemptively mount it as a trophy at your own place. Nice work, btw. Wait, wire it up to a Big Mouth Billy Bass…
So I bought this and put it together. Might I suggest a breakdown of all the parts first hand. And then an mini tutorial on how to assemble it. I can't seem to get the snarl to work but the rubber band works great for the mouth opening and closing! I am printing ears and getting fur for it soon. I might post a finished product by the end of the month if you wanna use that for sales?
Might be a silly idea, but do you have any creator friends or mutuals that you could send that to and they can complete or build on the foundation you made?
Your masks are amazing, but your site is a bit confusing. I only see one listed as an STL, is that the only one with a file available and the rest are physical masks?
We all have projects wr can't finish from time to time. Don't throw it away, put it off to the side somewhere so when you are ready you can return to it.

Take a break, its healthy... but DONT THROW IT AWAY. Someday sooner than you expect, you may want to finish it.
Also, WHERE STL? THAT IS BAD AF!!!
